Sen Chuck Grassley of Iowa called President Obama "stupid" on Twitter this past weekend, while yet another Republican questioned the validity of his birth certificate during a town hall meeting. Obama's reaction? Complete silence.

He's afraid to engage the far right, but doesn't miss an opportunity to trash a celebrity rapper? Lame.

I don't think the President's comments were negative at all. I think they were honest and he's right. His comment wasn't meant to throw shade, at least I didn't take it that way, but to just give his honest, personal opinion. The question was asked and he answered. Don't get what all the ruckas is about. shrug

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

"Afraid"? It's more like he can't be bothered to react to that kind of idiocy - " nana you're stupid!" and " beatdeadhorse show us your birth certificate" are, yes, even more idiotic and boring than Kanye West.

Neither do I. I´d rather interpret his words as a compliment, you know, "talented", "smart", "he´s from Chicago" are not exactly negative statements. Not many rappers can claim that they were given these attributes by the President himself!

And at least he´s honest when he´s calling him a jackass again. It would´ve made him look like a hypocrite if he had taken his words back or denied them.

Much props to Obama for this one.

I bet Kanye is sooo proud now (if he doesn´t take these words the wrong way).

I've never had the desire to be a part of the grammys, however, if that "fool" would have tried to steal my limelite I would have I would have stuck a dry cactus up his punk ass! I have respect for most rappers but absolutely NO respect for Kanye's simitalented ass. He hasnt yet qualified to have an arrogant status imo and since his "insident" hes now considered damaged merchandise as far as the industry is concerned. As for the president, I tip my hat to him for his kind remarks and I agree that he is the jack of all jackjasses in the music industry. I dont support his ignorance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

West IS a jackass. He may be a talented producer, but his solo work does nothing for me. Same old rhymes, same annoying voice. The Taylor Swift incident was the limit.

Prior 2 that, the awards shows thought it funny to actually utilize his (West's) past public "sore loser" antics for comic relief; I didn't find anything remotely humorous about it. It only drew attention to the truth about West and it served in making him look even more ridiculous and arrogant. He basked in that moment.

Rapper's are a dime a dozen in my book. Obama's right. Who would pull shit like that on a nationally televised program? You'd HAVE 2b a first class moron. It lacked good judgement, was extremely rude and showed profound self-absorption on a very public level on his part. Yup. Jackass. A very rich one, unfortunately. The trend these days.

My sentiments.

He should've done to Kanye what he did to Snooki, pretend he didn't know who he was.

"Oh I didn't see the show."

Or he could've done the unthinkable:

"I'm not caught up on rap music."

No offense, but I've always hated this argument. He's not allowed to express an opinion about something or do anything that's not directly work-related? No matter what your job is, that's an unreasonable request.

I like Obama but Obama is slightly like Oprah as far as swaying with what the masses wants. He knows he will get bash by stating Kanye is ONLY talented instead he has to throw in a negative remark. He did the same bullshit with you know who....

THIS. And you would NEVER hear him say such a thing about a Major White celeb (call them out of their name) no matter how crazy they act. Whites disrespect Obama ALL the time and he keeps his lips sealed smh. What a pussy lol. Still I'm voting for the coward.

Kanye apologized to Taylor and she accepted..They squashed what happened @ the MTV awards. They did a Duet and called it a done deal...

If the President wants to refer to Kanye as a "Jackass" for the 2nd time that is cool..If he does it a 3rd time he's asking for it...kanye ain't done shit to him but encourage his Concert-goers to Vote for him...

If Taylor Swift is cool enough to forgive Kanye then the Prez need to let it go..

More than two years after President Obama skewered Kanye West for s...'s thunder, he's still calling the rapper a "jackass."

In the May issue of The Atlantic, the president says he prefers Jay-Z over Kanye:

“Although I like Kanye,” Obama continues, with an easy smile. “He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.” He is displaying his larger awareness of the question, looking relaxed, cerebral but friendly, alive to the moment, waiting for me to get to the heart of the matter.

“Even though you called him a jackass?,” I ask.

“He is a jackass,” Obama says, in his likable and perfectly balanced modern-professorial voice. “But he’s talented.”

When Kanye interrupted Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Obama called him a "jackass" in a CNBC interview.

"I thought that was really inappropriate. You know it was like she's getting an award -- why are you butting in?" he said. "The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She's getting her award. What's he doing up there? He's a jackass."

http://www.huffingtonpost...20578.html

And...

To steal a line from my favorite movie, "The press is gonna be short-stroking this one all over the place."

He has a right to his opinion and I love both the President and Kanye. But I'm surprised he said this publically knowing how the media is going to jump all over it and how some people out there are going to get off on watching one successful black man tear down another.

I think that Kanye apologized for what he did right and hasn't really done anything since (much to my disappointment actually) so isn't this a little unwarranted from the President. Even though I think that Bush deserved what Kanye said about him, it's not like Bush mentioned anything about it during his presidency, only afterwards.

At least he's better than some people here and recognized Kanye as being talented which I think that he is as well.

You are absolutely right BUT...I don´t think it´s the Taylor Swift incident alone that makes Obama think that Kanye is a jackass. Because he simply is. lol And I don´t mean it in a bad way (neither did Obama, I think). And they´re both from Chicago, so I guess there´s some sort of mutual respect and admiration there. But yes, if he keeps saying it in the future, THEN of course it would make Obama a bit stupid but I think it also makes him more authentic that he doesn´t change his attitude about Kanye just because he caught caught on tape the first time. He doesn´t beat around the bush and sticks to what he said and how he feels, regardless of Kanye being on top of the charts, and he acknowledges him and pays respect where respect is due.

yeah, these are the times we're living in...

back in the day, rappers were considered "menaces to society"

now they're just "jackasses"...

what a dumb, flaccid era... disbelief
