Carl Thomas

So why hasn't his recent albums done well? I thought the guy could sing pretty well...but then he disappeared only to resurface with a lukewarm response. Maybe its the same disease that Avant and Donell Jones suffer from...not having the right producers/writers and instead end up with some washed up songs in order to blend with the r&b scene of right now?

hmmm

My opinion:

Carl has never been a good singer (like a lot of those that you listed). Carl has never really grown musically. He has done the same type of music since day one.

I downloaded his latest album and just shook my head at how horrible it was. His voice was weak in places and a lot of the music he was singing didn't fit his vocal ability.

I think a lot acts like Carl, Avant and Joe tend to be very generic and lost their fan base because they keep doing the same thing over and over. They don't seem to know what reinvention is.

Wasn't he signed to the Bad Boy label? That explains why he never was able to sustain a career.

I found him to be boring I knew he wouldn't last no charisma.

He never needs to record again AFAIC. He left his mark with "I Wish," which is a perfect song to my ears. "Summer Rain" was icing on the cake. Rest easy Carl, you did good. comfort

I know with Donell, I loved that song he had out a few years ago "Love Like This". Bought the album and regretted it. Had me left wondering how in the hell can you fuck up an album like this? disbelief As far as Avant goes, I haven't heard a decent album from him in years. When he had a song about seeing french pedicures in the air, I was done. faint With Carl, of course him being on the Bad Boy label automatically made him a casualty, but still shrug As far as reinvention goes, I guess its like this, how can they reinvent themselves if they don't have the pull behind them that will allow them to do that? ....Unless they go indie?

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Carl signed to Verve and released an album in December called Conquer. It is HORRIBLE!

Was there a video from this album with Carl featuring Snoop on it? Cause I saw this video last night which prompted me to create this thread and both the video and the song was horrible.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't know why Carl Thomas has not had a bigger career, "Emotional" was a great album, but everything else was.....meh. My co-worker let me borrow his current CD and it was so disappointing.

Yep, that's it.
