Eddie Levert's been busy touring with The O'Jays, but he's still found time to record his first solo album. "Last Man Standing" is the first single off the lead vocalist's soon-to-be-released disc, titled Eddie Levert: I Still Have It.
The album is due out this spring, and Eddie says in a statement that it "is an extension of me as an entertainer. With all my years in this business, I still love performing."
In fact, Eddie plans to traveling across the country to promote Eddie Levert: I Still Have It. "This is my first solo album and I am so excited to share this with my fans," he says.

I love me some O'Jays but he's about 30 years too late to be trying to go solo. No doubt the old heads will cop it. Maybe he'll even get some Grammy recognition like Al Green or Rapheal.
It's good to know they're still touring. The old acts gotta make a living too.

It Uncle Charlie and ol Ron Isley can do it, so can Eddie LeV.

Yep! And I know Uncle Charlie has been really successfully with his hits over the last couple of years... Eddie can definitly do it..

I forgot about those guys.
And the A/C station here plays the shit out of that Charlie Wilson song "You Are." I'm so damn tired of it. I'd prefer the Gap Band

I saw Eddie at The Time reunion in Vegas a few years ago. With his much younger wife. It was good to see him out right after his second son Sean Levert passed away. That is a horrible lost. Losing both of your sons.. [Edited 4/10/12 6:36am] will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I concur. Plus, even though Charlie clearly can still sing, Eddie Levert can sing circles around him. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

What I would love to see is a new Ojays album (with the return of Sammy Strain) produced by Gamble and Huff.I know it won't happen, but that's my wish.Let's bring the magic back one more time!

This is Eddie's first single. That song is not lead single material. Has zero chance of catching fire. Sorry

I, too, was expecting something more ear catching than this effort.

I agree. That song is horrible.
I was hoping he would work with Eric Benet's producer and writer again. I really enjoyed the duet they did on Eric's last album. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

For this man to keep singing after the death of both of his sons is just very respectable. He's a strong guy-much respect to him.

Eddie Levert on R&B Lyrics: "Not Every Girl is a Freak" May 10, 2012 Abridged article
Seasoned artist Eddie Levert touched on his views about the state of today’s R&B lyrics, coincidentally after the controversial “Ready to Learn” song by Brian McKnight, who took a drastic switch in song content.
Levert thinks that the majority of today’s R&B lyrics lack emotion, saying, “not every girl is a freak.” He goes on the say, “now you treated her like a freak and you were so direct about it, you may have lost the greatest girl in your life. Keeping it real sometimes can be a bit too vulgar.”
