In any case, this time at least they want to earn money by their own labor, not the death of their brother rolleyes .... I wish them luck, although I do not believe that the tour will be successful.
Michael for the Jackson 5 was even more than Klaus Meine for Scorpions, or Freddie Mercury for Queen ... it was an absolute dominance

It might be a flop but if they do this right, ie good marketing, work hard to perfect a good show and choose the right songs (I don't wanna see Jermaine performing Billy Jean trying to be Michael) I think this could be a semi success for the brothers which I would welcome. There's a big IF though.

They have to find their own voice and play to their strenghts.

Tito should focus on the guitar. Give him a blues number where he can lead and show his thing.

Jermaine should handle most of the lead but pick the right songs and adjust the key so that he can handle them without sounding flat. Jermaine should also play the bass as in the old days because A, he looks more comfortable with his bass B, that way people will not compare his (lack of) dancing to Michael's C, he is a good bass player

Jackie and Marlon should do what they do best on stage - sing background and do background dance routines. They could have some occasional lead spots.

If Randy changes his mind - let him play the keyboards and rythm instruments. Of course he should sing his parts of Can you feel it.

Depends on their expenses. U2 did a tour years ago that had a high gross, but there wasn't much of a profit for the group. Many veteran acts manage to make a living just performing without any big fanfare or media attention like Maze.

I never posted my dream set-list for a Michael-led, old school, Jackson’s reunion revue-- A JACKSONS show, not a show of the Jacksons singing background to Michael’s songs like on the Victory tour. I’m not interested in seeing this tour without Michael, but I think the set list would contain a lot of the songs I envisioned if Michael was alive and a part of this. They should have an hour long set list, keep it short, sweet, and to the point. So here it goes:

Torture

Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming

Body

Nothing That Compares 2 U

Let’s Get Serious

(medleys/ tribute to Michael)

I Am Love

I Want You Back/ ABC/ The Love You Save

I’ll Be There/ Maybe Tomorrow

Dancing Machine/ Billie Bean

Smile

(end tribute- Tito, get Jermaine some tissue)

Enjoy Yourself

Heartbreak Hotel

2300 Jackson St.

Shake You Body (Down to the Ground)

Gone Too Soon

i'm actually pretty curious and thinking about going to the Detroit date. if enough people are thinking like me, they might have a moderately successful tour on their hands. i've never seen the brothers (super vague memories from the Olympia from my childhood that my mom confirms as accurate nothwithstanding), and maybe this can help me overcome my intermittent depression when i think of how i missed the Victory tour at the Silverdome! i would go in with NO EXPECTATIONS and see what the brothers come up with!

Torture? How can they not start the set with Can you feel it even though neither Randy or Michael will participate. Jackie wrote the song and it is the perfect opener. Problem is, who will sing Michael's high pitched energetic lines especially on this tune. They will have to lower the key quite a bit.

Tell me I'm not dreaming as well as Torture are good songs but should they do both? If They perform Torture Jackie ought to sing Michael's parts since Jackie wrote the song and it was intended to be a duet between Michael and Jackie before Jermaine reunited with the brothers.

Body - seriously that song isn't good enogh IMO to make the setlist. Marlon could get a few co-lead spots, e.g. Shake your body since he manage to pull it off pretty well in the Cardiff tribute but please not Body.

Nothing compares to U - OK song but among all of their songs I'm reluctant to think it will make it to the setlist.

Let's get serious - Absolutely agree, Jermaine should funk it up with the bass and show his thing. There are a lot of other good songs he could perform in stead of Tell me I'm not dreaming (since that song is a MJ duet). You like me don't you, Don't take it personal, Words into action, Castle of sand to name a few.

Sure, do a MJ medley but I really hope they pick the right songs. Jermaine handles songs like I can't help it or Lady in my life really well but please skip songs like Billy Jean or Beat it.

I am love - good song but who will sing MJ's high pitched vocals?

J5 songs of course. Will be interesting to see if Jermaine will sing his co-lead parts or if he will sing Michael's parts or if he will sing all parts lol.

Dancing Machine - I agree, this song should be a part of the set list.

Smile - I don't agree, Jermaine performed this at the memorial and it was fitting then. They should leave it at that.

Enjoy yourself - good song but I'd rather see something else like That's what you get for being polite, Blame it on the boogie, Things I do for you, All night Dancing, Lovely one, Give it up, Everybody, Walk right now, Time waits for no one.

This place hotel - I agree, this song has to be included.

Shake your body - They can't live the building without performing this one. If Marlon is suppose to lead a song, let him lead this one. He has the energy to make it work even though not the strongest vocal ability.

Gone to soon - Interesting choice of song...maybe Jermaine could pull it of and I think this one would be more interesting than Smile. But they shouldn't end the set with that song.. Shake your body should be the last song IMO.

What about letting Tito perform a blues number? That would be a nice interlude.

"Can You Feel It" was written by both Jackie AND Michael. Not just Jackie alone, but either way it is a great song but I think it would work better if they saved it to perform towards the end of the show.

My dreamset list:

-"I Want You Back" (opener)

-ABC/The Love You Save/Mama's Pearl Medley

-Dancing Machine

-Blame It On The Boogie

-I Am Love

-Show You The Way To Go

-Find Me A Girl

-Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin'

-Darlin' Dear

-Torture

-State of Shock

-Lets Get Serious

-Do What You Do

-Body

-Shake Your Body Down To The Ground

-Never Can Say Goodbye/Eventhough You're Gone (Tribute to Michael)

-Can You Feel It (Closer)

-2300 Jackson Street (Encore)

THank you for posting this new thread Patrick, but that other thread should have never been CLOSED in the first place. There was a perfectly good thread about the Jacksons tour and now it's closed. Why? There's a certain MOD on here that ALWAYS likes to put every thing in the MJ sticky no matter how faintly related to him it is.

It's ridiculous. I'm tired of it.

The Jacksons going on tour should NOT be relegated to the MJ sticky. They are their own people and their own artists and as you said, there are people who like the other brothers and don't care for MJ and don't want to post in the sticky.

There's no reason whatsoever for news/discussion about The Jackson brothers new tour to get lumped into the MJ sticky. It really has nothing to do with Michael.

Perfect example of why Jermaine should handle most of the lead vocals. In fact I'd say that Randy is the best vocalist after Michael and Jermaine and Randy will be a no show.

You're right about MJ and Jackie writing Can you feel it.

Actually it would be kind of epic to use I want you back as the opener although I think Can you feel it is more majestatic and anthem like.

Show you the way to go could work but Body, State of Shock and Darlin' Dear instead of songs like This place hotel? You've got to be kidding? confused

"This Place Hotel" is a gem, but that is a Michael song as far as i'm concerned. I don't even consider it to be a Jacksons song. I totally associate that song with MJ and MJ only. I can't see them pulling that off well. No way. I would prefer it if they wouldn't perform that song tbh.

"Darlin' Dear" is a fantastic song btw. I would like it if the J5 would sing more obscure songs like this along with the popular hits they're known for. A nice balance between the "hits" and the obscure stuff would be cool to me.

It'll be tough seeing what they would pick for the set list since Michael handled the leads like a G... it's hard to imagine another Jackson singing his songs. It wasn't like they were the Temptations.

Yep. I imagine most people that attend thiss show will go purely out of curiosity. lol "How the fuck they gonna pull THIS shit off?"

My wife asked me earlier if I wanted to go, knowing I'm a bona fide fan since birth. I told her hell naw, shit will be on youtube asap and I'll satisy my curiosity then.

If they do any song of that album they should do "Art of madness". But I doubt that that album will get any recognition. And the show should be definitely longer than 60 minutes (geez, the thought)... they should do 90 minutes of Jackson/Jackson 5 plus a short Jermaine and Tito solo spot.

This place Hotel was always performed by the brothers during Triumph tour as well as Victory tour. Tito did a memorable solo on that cut and that is one of his favorite songs to play whit his band. Tito's band does en exellent job with this song live btw so why wouldn't The Jacksons? 3T also performed this song live with Tito playing the solo and at least Taryll's vocals were good.

Darling Dear is a nice song I agree.

Since Jermaine will perform song(s) from his solo years as well, what do you think about a nice but obscure cut like this one. Really nice vocals on this one.

I really hope this is a huge success for them! - people expect them to stop performing and crawl in a hole after 2009 - it’s ridiculous.

They are so talented and have been ridiculed for years by the majority of the public and media for no reason.

Nobody gives a damn about Randy. lol I'm aware of his talents but he has always been seen as the lil' brother who joined the group later on... no one has ever checked for Randy. NO ONE. lol

As far as the tour, I'll believe it when they do a concert but I don't think many care about seeing remaining Jackson's either. I wish them well, maybe Jermaine can make enough coins to support his children.

What about a MJ hologram on one or a few of the songs? Or maybe a Austin Brown could lead some of the high pitched up tempo songs? He has the moves of a front man and he has a high pitched voice.

I guess that would take a lot of time to make too, and their tour is supposed to start in a couple of months. There's those Elvis Presley concerts where they have his original band and singers from the 1970's playing to film and vocals of Elvis.

When you talk about holograms...

Move Over, Tupac—Michael Jackson Hologram Could "Absolutely" Go On Tour With His Brothers

Michael JacksonEbet Roberts/Getty Images

If the late Tupac Shakur could put on a show, so could Michael Jackson.

Yes, a hologram of the King of Pop may be going on tour…

The late music legend's brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon just announced that they are joining together for Unity Tour 2012, a 27-city jaunt that kicks off June 18 in Louisville.

It marks the first time they've toured together since the Victory Tour in 1984.

"I just wish Michael was here with us, but I'm sure his spirit will be in the house," Jackie exclusively told me this morning.

And he may be with them afterall. Jackie said a Michael hologram could very well be part of a bigger tour they're planning for next year after they release a new album with their recently reunited record label Motown.

"It could have Michael—absolutely," he said. "Wouldn't that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael's Cirque du Soleil show."

The brothers are still working on the set list for Unity. "There are so many songs," Jackie said. "That's the hardest part because we want to include all the favorites and not leave anything out. We're going to sing some of Michael's stuff, too. We're going to honor him on the stage. He'd want us to do our thing to the best of our ability."

Now we want to hear from you. Do you want to see a hologram Michael Jackson performance? Let us know in the comments below.

mj's copyrighted image cannot be used w/o the estate's permission.

one of mj's last press releases said something to the effect that he wished them well on their tour (the one they wanted him to be apart of in '09), but he was working on new music and would not be joining them. isn't it funny how these guys want to pretend he never said that?

i'm hoping that the estate will honor mj's wish. i'm hoping any attempt to use mj's image to help the brothers' sell tix to their shows will be blocked.
