De La or Tribe?

I have to give the edge to De La

Now this is a tough one.

On one hand, Soul paved the way for hipster rap acts. On the other hand, seeing how Tip evolved as a producer is a great thing to witness.

I have to go with De La, because sometimes Q tip can get on my nerves.

Luckily, we don't have to choose. I prefer Tribe, but they're both among the best hip hop has to offer.

Native Tongues!

I wonder what happened between them? I guess it's only natural any large group is going to have schisms merely because of the egos involved...

Or some Tongues who lied
and said "We'll be Natives to the end"
Nowadays we don't even speak
I guess we got our own life to live
Or is it because we want our own kingdom to rule?

My vote goes the A Tribe Called Quest. Excuse me, but Tribe has always been too cool.

I liked listening to Tribe better, but in the late 90's I saw De La Soul live, and not expecting too much they put on a really great show.

As skilled MCs, Q and Phife are better than Pos and Dave. In the crate diggin' dept., they are a push. In my album buying count, I have most of De La's CDs up until AOI, I have only the first three up to Beats, Rhyme and Life. I've had the fortune of saying a quick hello to Q-Tip once and all of the De La guys since I work at the airport and they were in the lobby.

AOI: Mosaic Thump and AOI: Bionix

are masterpieces imo

If I were rating their albums just for fun,

3 Feet, De La is Dead, Stakes and AOI I are ten stars.

People's , Midnight and B,R,L are tens as well.

I don't hate Buhloonmindsate but I passed on buying it since I didn't like all of tracks.

I passed on Tribe's last official album because of the bad reviews it got, it may be worth a listen but I don't wish to at the time.
