K-Pop: Putting the "Fun" Back in Music?

I just read a Spin magazine article about the emergence of Korean pop music. It explained the whole machine that runs performers through a rigorous process of singing, dancing, composition, acting et al for a two year period. It's pretty fascinating and the whole scene seems like a lot of fun, something missing from pop radio in america as of late.

2NE1 reminds me of a korean Destiny's Child:

Taeyang brings to mind Chris Brown:

"Bouncy" is the best word to describe Wonder Girls, who have the distinction of being the first K-pop group to chart in the U.S.:

The young man in the center of the Taeyang video, whether he is Teayang or that is the name of the group, is making me want to pull some Luther, Lady Tee fueled-by-the-heart-traveling-back-through-time-shit .. and call him. So cute.

K-Pop just sounds like American pop to me but in Korean. To each his own of course.

But i find it funny there are tons of amazing asian musicians, artists etc. Out there but they bring the one that sounds most like American pop neutral

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

The music has absolutely been duplicated. But those girls from Girls' Generation are better singers than 10 Rhiannas and Beys, in my estimation.

I think it's more of the fact that they are a different race. It's nice to see people who aren't the typical white and black get attention. With that said it is the same as ours.
