Janet Jackson Most Likely will Recieve BET LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Every year when Stephen Hill tweets who should get the lifetime achievement award he gets several tweets saying Janet jackson should, well last year it was out of Pattie, Janet and Aretha. Miss Franklin turned it down, Janet was on her Number Ones world tour 2011-2012 and had a show in paris the day of the awards, so it went to Patti. Stephen hill tweeted days b4 the BET awards last year how he tried everything in his power to get janet but she was on tour, and that he will tried again next year.

Jackson has every right to get this award this year she has changed the face of pop/ r&b music. She changed the face of MTV in the 1980's with ground breaking music videos and sold out world tours. I can not wait for her to get this award. The BET AWARDS knows how to put on a award show my favorite part of the entire show is when a legend gets this award.

I want all of you to tell me what artist should perform what janet songs. and what songs should janet perform when her tribute is done. Usually 4 to 6 perfomers perform, then the artist perform a 15 min set. Have fun with this you guys enjoy. #JanetJackson #BetAwards2012 (:

Why not B.B. King? He started in the late 1940's and still performing and releasing records.

You could say that about Al Green, James Brown, Gladys Knight, and Earth Wind & Fire. He's a black entertainer and so are others like Chuck Berry. I've heard that James only got it because Michael Jackson turned it down and said James deserved it.

God, I hope so.

I hope they don't F-up the tributes. I'm tired of a lot of these Neo-Soul people. I can see getting one or 2 of them to help with the tribute, but if Jill Scott comes on, I'm going to "Scream."

I would like to see some unconventional acts do a tribute to her (like Esperaza Spaulding, Norah Jones, Norman Brown, etc.) be added to the tribute in order to give us a wide variety of the influence that Janet's music has been.

BB is a blues person and BET tends to avoid acknowledging Blues artists.

BET has never been an advocate for promoting blues artists even when it debuted in 1980.

Plus I bet most of BET's audience doesn't know who BB is.

Not crazy about Janet getting this.

What about Tina Turner?

If she is getting something like this, this probably means she is preparing to release some music. That's the way it usually works.

see this would be way to predictable thats why i didnt even mention ciara or chris brown.i went outside the box to get my artist./.when u think of a JANET JACKSON TRIBUTE you would think of dance artist like ciara and chris i want it to be different from her mtv icon tribute in 2001..i want soul singers to pay homage to janet...she is also an amazing singer i think people forget that janet is an amazing singer as well

Doesn't sound like much of an award when is goes to the default "I can make it to the ceremony" person.

Thats why I dont take BET seriously at all. They are all about opportunity... Michael knew what the deal was and was right. BET NEVER acknowledges the black artists they should.

Now dont get me wrong I LOVE Janet but their are PLENTY of more deserving artists that should get it BEFORE her Im sorry...

What about Tina Turner? Aretha Franklin? Or recent legendary artists that passed like Etta James, Teena Marie etc?

They always do things for RATINGS

lol I was thinking the same! The award goes to the one who isn't busy that night?

I remembered reading on that, that BET ended up giving it to Patti because Janet was too busy with her concert performances to accept and that Aretha flatly refused it. Patti is always giving the leftovers. lol

Who else would you guys like to see get it (other than Janet)?

I would like to see someone like Babyface get an award like this. He seems to be so "unsung" when it comes to r&b music. The man has written some great hits and has some beautiful music of his own. I don't consider writing one of the biggest hits of all time anything to overlook.
