Aretha Franklin - A Change is Gonna Come
Never knew she covered this song until a couple months ago. Aretha could sing the damn phone book and make you cry. Vocal talent like this doesn't exists anymore.
Enjoy! | |

I loved this cover personally:
---- Mainly because Otis used his own lyrics. | |

Didn't he originally write and perform it? I know Sam Cooke made it popular, but Otis's was the original.
It's amazing how young they died and the impact they were able to have (and continue to have) on music. | |

No. You're thinking of "Respect"...
Sam Cooke did the original "Change". He recorded it after his son's death in '63, it was posthumously released in '65. Otis recorded his cover version that same year. | |

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |
