Flashlight is probably one of the most overrated though I still dig it.

Flashlight is a funky track but their are more funkier songs. I dont think Flashlight is overrated maybe played out but not overrated. Its a classic, great funk track and great to dance to. Its definitly one of my all time favorites but I wouldnt call it the best funk song of all time.

I actually think "(Not Just) Knee Deep" is the best funk song of all time.

I'm not dissing "Flash Light" because it is an excellent funk song also, but I think "Knee Deep" reins supreme. I think everything about this song is sheer perfection, while I could personally take "Flashlight" or leave it. Maybe because it's so overplayed. I'm not sure why. However, it's one of the songs that grates my nerves when I hear it now.

Maybe that has to do with the fact that whenever funk is brought up in general discussion, this or one of James' songs or one of Sly's songs or "Superfreak" is often first mentioned.
