Can someone school me on Lewis Taylor?

I never heard of him till recently, but he's an English rnb singer who left the biz-D'Angelo and The Roots loved him-I think he only did 2 cds before he left the music biz.

Can someone fill me in on him?

He made approximately a half-dozen albums (multiple versions of some albums exist) between the mid-1990's and early 2000's. The last, The Lost Album, was finally released in 2006. He'd started out under a different moniker in the late 80s/early 90s.

He had a talent for songwriting. He was soulful, interesting. It's hard to find his stuff on YouTube. He's a recent favorite of mine. Overall, worth the love he gets. Thankfully, can be found on iTunes now.

There have been quite a few posts on him over the years:

An outside review: http://undercoverblackman...aylor.html

To me, his material sounded like a combination of influences.
(Todd Rundgren/Marvin Gaye/Brian Wilson, to name a few, plus his own thing.)
The recorded material is almost 100% Lewis Taylor (writing, arrangements, vocals, instruments).

His "retirement" occurred right before he was to do a gig out here at The Troubadour.
A number of reasons have been thrown about. Hated the "business", severely introverted/paranoid, fear of success.

All his videos have been pulled from YouTube even a recent track by Deborah Bond where he appears on vocals.

Definitely talented.

Disillusionment with the music industry.

I think there were different editions of the Lost Album and Stoned Albums for the UK and US. But Stoned Pts. 1 and 2 feature different renditions of the same songs. The discography still confuses me somewhat.
