Whitney Houston's official cause of death was due to accidental drowning, a source close to the investigation tells PEOPLE.

The singer, 48, was also found to have cocaine in her system at the time of her death, the source confirms. Contributing factors of her death included heart disease and cocaine use, an investigation found.

Houston was found unresponsive and underwater in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 11, a day before the Grammy Awards, and was pronounced dead at the scene soon afterward.

Coroner officials previously confirmed that prescription pill bottles were found in her room, but the number of pills were "not in alarming amounts."

Houston, who had long battled drug addiction, was laid to rest on Feb. 19 at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J., alongside her father, following a star-studded memorial the day before.

The toxicology report is in.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has determined that Whitney Houston's official cause of death is: "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."

The singer was found in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel room on Feb. 11, hours before a pre-Grammy party. She was 48.

The coroner's office also said the manner of death was an "accident."

However, the toxicology report adds that "Cocaine and metabolites were identified and were contributory to the death. Marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax), Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) were identified but did not contribute to the death."

An autopsy was conducted the day after she died. Capt. John Kades of the Los Angeles County coroner's office said at the time there no indications of foul play and no obvious signs of trauma on Houston's body. Prescription pill bottles were found in her room, but the number of pills were "not in alarming amounts," said officials.

Dionne Warwick said earlier this month she suspected her cousin died of a "heart attack."

Scary thing is, I bet many people on stuff like Xanax are also "self medicating" with pot and coke. That just can't be a good idea.

It's possible she had a heart attack (and that led to the drowning). They did say she had heart disease. Ugh. Poor Nippy. Oh well, now she can rest in peace.

She was taking Xanax. Mix that with alcohol (and they said she was out drinking the night before) and it may have caused her to fall asleep in the bathtub. It's what I predicted.

I was thrown off guard by the cocaine though. I thought she was off of it. That's what Pat and everyone who was close to her were saying.

But watch the skeptics focus solely on her having cocaine in her system. Critics continue to refer to her as "junkie" and "crack whore" and the news of Ray J possibly having a sex tape with Nippy does not help matters.

Gawd, why can't they let this woman RIP and remember the beatiful music and fun films she left behind. Its not like she hurt anybody damn.

I was too. For cocaine to be found in your system, you have to have done it at least three days prior to your death. Meaning she was still using when she died.

All of a sudden El and Whitney's emotional last embrace makes sense.

Pot can be a muscle relaxer for many, Xanax is a anti depressant ( it relaxes the body as well) and Flexeril is also a muscle relaxer for muscle spasms( took i t for my rotated shoulder cuff). I used to take Flexeril and Xanax but not same time... both of those made me a zombie and i slept too much so i took myself off of both..so yeah i can see if it was in her body at time of death she may have took them both and it hit her that fast.. so in a way it was an d was no t a accident... it does say on side of bottle aka warning lables will make u drowsy/sleepy.

Well being that the coroner said that they weren't a factor in her death I'm guessing there wasn't enough in her system to make her pass out..

She died on drugs and in a state of financial insolvency.

Fans shouldn't be taken aback by the negative news; we realized she had personal demons.

But as much as you want to believe someone is clean, you can't keep an eye on them 24/7. That's why people can never know anyone 100%.

Even if they weren't, that doesn't make it any better. She was still using.

^ maybe the cocaine is a false reading. i would be interested to see the amount she had in her system. I'm not ready to accept that she was wilfully using just days or even hours before her death. I mean she was with Ray J and aint no telling what he may have done, anticipating some fun times with his girl no less. Yeah I'm calling foul on Ray cuz its well known how he and his boys get down when it comes to drink and drugs. Plus how are you going to trust some scrub that routinely makes sex tapes with the women he beds.
