Harlepolis

Charles Stepney handled the production, right? hmmm

I have to admit, I have minimum knowledge of Rotary Connection's music, aside from the stuff that appeared in "Petals" and other Minnie compilation.

"I Am the Black Gold of The Sun"/ "Black Gold"

Over the years (especially because of remakes from Nuyorican Soul and 4Hero ), this has become sort of the flagship Rotary Connection song. I didn't realize until recently that the piece had its genesis a few years earlier, when Stepney first did the track for Phil Upchurch's early solo album. Ironically (or not), Phil plays on both versions....come to think of it, a number of the same people play on both albums...and you can certainly hear Minnie's high vocals in the background of Phil's version
