You must be talking about Las Vegas slot machine gambling. I'm talking about juke joint gambling and numbers running, where people shoot each other if they lose or suspect the other person of cheating. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |

James hit Tammi with anything... she was hit by one of James' umbrellas once. Chuck definitely felt some type of way if you messed with his money. Otherwise, I'd hang out with him. Oh and don't be Keith Richards and tell Chuck how to do a song then he wouldn't wanna do shit with you at all... | |

Ike pistol-whipped some folks when they ask about money. That's when people were calling him "Pistol Whippin' Ike". What tripped me out is Tina knew Ike's reputation. I even think her sister warned her of being around Ike but Tina became Ike's errand girl. She used to get Ike other women (even while Ike was still married) so he could fuck them. Tina also had seen Ike hit other people in front of her. She knew. I guess Tina didn't think it could happen to her. The first time Ike ever hit her was because Tina was asking for some money or she was leaving. She said Ike found a shoe stretcher and hit her across the face with it. | |

What is Phil Spector's deal-was he abused as a kid? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." | |

I think with Tina she always felt like she was unwanted and unloved. You have to remember Tina's parents abandoned her at a very young age. She never really felt loved by neither of them, especially her mother. Coming from an environment she came from, it's easy to see why she decided to be with Ike. Ike had similar issues in his childhood though they were quite different: Ike's father died when he was five (it's a mystery as to how it really occurred, Ike always said a racist white mob did it but an Ike Turner historian said Izear Turner had an industrial accident). Ike's mother got involved with a guy who used to be abusive towards his mother so Ike would always fight the man. Ike left home early to start his musical career. Ike was raped at the age of six by an older woman (of course he didn't see it that way) so he was already screwed up. I think Ike was the only other person that even took care of Tina once Tina decided to start a musical career with him. | |

What about those recently released Jackie Kennedy tapes in which she makes some comments about King? It doesn't say anything about beating women, but she does mention that the president told her that Martin tried to arrange an orgy according to wiretaps. What does the source matter? Jackie also said that John told her not to judge Martin because of this. If Ozzy Osbourne says Eric Clapton did drugs, it doesn't make it not so just because Ozzy was doing it too. As far as sources go, how do you know if anything that is posted on this site is true or not? You're just going on some anonymous folks word and not researching it yourself. Ike Turner liked locking people up in his studio. He had the Rolling Stones in there trying to pull the bars off the windows, and he still wouldn't let them out. This was from Bobby Womack's book. | |

Ike was a real control freak. Even at home. Tina's son Craig said he was often afraid of him. | |

--------- The FBI was wire tapping the phones in the hotels that Dr.King was in while he was traveling during the Civil Rights movement and claimed to have audio of him with other women and a woman came out a few years ago claiming she was his mistress.
No one has ever said he ran with hookers and I kind of think the FBI would have put that out if they knew that these women were hookers. | |

Could have been James or Dave Ruffin. Check out the unsung on Tammi they talk about James beating her backstage at a concert because she did not come out and watch him perform.
James was a nutball and I am really surprised no one put a bullet in him back in the day. | |

To be fair Tina's mom practicaly sold her to Ike and I think she really had low self esteem. She only finally left him because he was starting to beat on her boys and she still make excuses for him to this day. | |

My point exactly The FBI would have put that mess on the front page of every news paper. We know from people in the civil rights movement Martin had a mistress and we know things were not the great between him and his wife from the get go but hookers and orgies the FBI would have had a field day.
I lot of people do not realize the hell Martin was going thru. He was audited by the IRS every single year since the bus boycott, stopped driving because he got tickets constantly, and had bomb and death threats to his home all the time.
He even kept a gun in his house.

Not really. You have to remember this was the early 1960's and sex wasn't really written about in the newspaper. If folks saw something of that sort in the paper they would have complained about the paper printing filth, especially since children had access to it, as kids had paper routes. The news was serious back then, it's not like the gossip that the news brodcast now. The thing at the time was accusing someone of being a Communist. I don't see how she's making excuses though for Ike. All I heard from her when talking about Ike is that she wants to leave it alone... | |

Why wasn't Tina's mom around when Tina was a kid and where was her dad? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
According to Tina, her mama told her her birth (Tina's) was unexpected and she almost wanted to abort her but I guess her mother (Zelma's) was against it so she ended up having Tina. So Zelma almost didn't wanna have her. Her dad basically left his daughters because he wanted money and felt he couldn't provide for his daughters so he moved to Detroit and then California. Tina said she was more hurt by her momma leaving her than her father. | |
