What he should have done is released that live Soul Tronics cd like he promised.

According to what ?uest told me years ago, the label wouldn't allow either a D Voodoo Live album OR a Soultronics album.

Mong, that is D. If you have seen any recent concert clips, you will know those are same tattoos D has and also I got it from a website that D posed for pics for.

I was hoping that the album would drop just after the european tour he did

a few month ago but aparently he keeps replacing stuff.

I read somewhere that after the tour he had drummer Chris "Daddy" Dave replacing lot's of

the drumming on the album and now he's bringing in Jesse to do some work.

I'm sure it'll be awsome but come on...we've been waiting forever now!lol

Nothing wrong with him wanting the album 2 b perfect now, after getting the feel of a live audience & taking advantage of Jesse while he has him. Jesse has been known to disappear. I can not wait to hear it now with the addition of Jesse. I am on cloud 9..

Maybe Jesse did make the right decision to leave "The 07V3N" He will get way more exposure with D...They were to unprofessional.....

As great as that may sound,I'm kinda nervous about Jesse's involvment though. The man has a history of bailing out on folks. Add that with D'Angelo's indecisive nature, and you got yourself a masterpiece that never "was". I really hope I'm wrong though.

Scriptgirl, I was talking to HohnerCatcher.

D is a perfectionist and as far as Jesse...I have some mixed feelings about him. I am a lifelong prince stan and I love the Time and I love Jesse's solo work, BUT, Jesse will talk shit almost as fast as Questlove and I question what he has to say. Jesse in some ways seems very bitter-whether justified, or not, I don't know.

I do think he doesn't get enough props for his guitar work.

As far as him hooking up with D, no matter what he says, I think Jesse did so just because he would play bigger venues and get more exposure than being with the Time. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it seems he is quick to turn.

D idolizes Prince and all connected with him, so of course he is thrilled Jesse is on his team.

thanks, Harle.

D needs to deliver and I think he will. I will say that as much as I ADORED his concert clips from Europe, he needs to seriously retool it for the US.

2crazy, where did you find this out? Is this a large, respected festival?

INTERESTING that there have been no confirmed US dates, but then, D is LOVED in Europe, way more than in the States

Its a good idea for him to start in europe first. Get the band & himself ready first for the judgmental stateside.....So when it comes time to release his next hit album. He will be prepared to knock em dead again..

I guess 2Crazy is right. http://www.gentjazz.com/u...-festival/

It's making me upset though that he can't at least do one in the states. That's deprivation man, and its unfair.

U people don't understand promotion and how a promoter gets an artist back on the scene after a long long break. Even the late Whitney was sent overseas to tour..Before it was evident for her not to come back to the states

I do understand the neccesity of an overseas stint before coming back to America. But D fans have a right to wish he came to the states. It's been 12 years! sad You can't expect for American fans to just be like "oh golly I guess I'll wait." No, if you are D fan, and truly miss him, of course its like, man can I just get a glimpse of him, and hear snippet of his voice live. You can't blame us man. lol

I agree with Kool. It is VERY important that D go overseas before the US. He is regarded as a GOD over there, he has always been loved in Europe, where he is loved for being a pure musician, whereas over here, he's beefcake first and singer third.

And D's management has to have a plan. He is not a run of the mill artist and has to be handled carefully.

And D really, really NEEDS to get his shit DOWN before he comes to America. The knives, pitchforks and whatever else will be out for him and he needs to nail it or ELSE. It wouldn't hurt if he did a few "surprise" shows in NYC.

My belief is that D's people are gearing up for the release of the cd, introducing him back slowly and then he will drop the cd and hit up the awards shows in jan/feb.

Seems D's folks are doing the Marvin Gaye/Tina Turner route: reestablish him in Europe then the United States. Least it seem like it.
