New James Brown Biography I just saw this referred to on another music website:
http://www.amazon.com/The...amp;sr=8-1
Has anybody seen or read it yet? If so, what did you think? The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

If and when they do a biopic for Mr. Brown, I humbly like to recommend Phillip Edward Van Lear to play the lead role of James Brown. He definitely looks the part.
To answer your question electricberet, no I haven't heard about it.

Surprised there haven't been more biographies and books on James and his music, considering his legendary status as musical pioneer and civil rights figure. He also had a colourful personal life, so you'd think he'd make good copy, like all those books on Elvis and the Beatles etc.
Mind you, there's like only one book generally available specifically on George Clinton/P-Funk (that In Their Own Words one). I guess funk icons don't sell in bookshops these days
Personally, a good biog of Clinton (an autobiog could be fascinating), a book on the development and influence of P-Funk music and a proper history of Earth, Wind and Fire are the bare minimum we need on our funky bookshelves

What I would really love is a thick coffee table book filled with nothing but photographs of James.

IKR?! Apparently he's well established in the Chicago theatre world but I immediately noticed the resemblance in the "Meet The Browns" movie. Later I saw him in "The Chicago Code" TV Series commercials. I was like "Wait, there's that dude that looks like James Brown!"
