Tanya Tucker ~ What's Your Mama's Name

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Thanks Mick....beautiful song....I forget how early Tanya Tucker started...that dress looked mid-70's style.

Imagine my surprise when I looked up my itunes and found no TT there eek .

I'm off to rectify that right now.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Now THAT's a blast from the past! Tanya Tucker! lol

When I was growing up in the 70's I remember Tanya Tucker, Barbara Mandrel, and Dolly Parton were like the holy trifecta of crossover country music an were everywhere you would turn around: tv shows, cheesy tabloids, the hit that inched into crossover on the AM pop music charts (and occasionally into soul music circles who were devoted to AM radio as well).

In all sincerity I remember none of her hits (because I may have been too little), but I sure remember her face being on the cover of magazines every week for her marriages, and par for the course, her cocaine addictions and such. I remember my mom (who had the most eclectic music taste ever for a black southern born Pre-Civil Rights Baptist woman) was crazy about Tanya Tucker, Crystal Gale, and Barbara Mandrell (for that damn 45 she played down to the quick, Sleepin' Single in A Double Bed). She used to blast their 45's non-stop along with Elton John lol

I have that record. I used to watch Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters show too.
