There may be another reason: she could be releasing it just to fulfill her contractual obligations to the label.

She deserves hits - the song she did with Floetry is amazing.

in many ways,I think Macy Gray was just too "out there" for the mainstream. She's not the typical black female artist. She doesn't have a long weave and she doesn't do the boring R&B music that we hear from so many others.I see her more like a Tina Turner-type artist.

Macy's video for "Smoke Two Joints" , a song originally written by The Toyes.

The album cover is somewhat unremarkable. She has an "I can't wait to get outta this contract " look on her face.

Well, at least she's not going the "American Songbook" route, like Rod Stewart.

I was listening to Howard Stern last week and he said he put the album on and it made him depressed while he was sitting there with his very old dog at his feet. So he tweeted it. And he was called a douche and a fag for it falloff

She may be on the show soon, FYI.

I like her acting in Lackawanna Blues and Training Day. I tried with the music, but sometimes she sounds like Daffy Duck to me. boxed

lol

Macy is a pretty good actress and some of her songs are good. I havent listened to alot of her music but her style is definitly different. I always appreciate an artist that goes after their sound and not after hits..

I don't know if that's truth or just opinion. Probably opinion. It can be fun and artistic to put your own spin on other people's songs. If it's something an artist wants to do (as opposed to having to do), I say, cool! Hearing an old song in a new way by someone other than the original artist can be nice. Besides, a fading career may be defined differently by others. To me, a fading career is when you're no longer into what you do and are losing interest in your craft. Popularity wise, everyone's singing career fades at some point. But, if you're less popular than you were in your hey day yet you are still loving what you do and putting out songs, I say, you're career has not faded. I guess it depends on how you meausre success. Doing what you love and continuing to do it, to me, is success. Just another point of view, of course:)
