Let's see him portray living rappers like this. He chose them because they can't come and pop a cap in his ass 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Yeah, but any number of Biggie/Tupac fans and devotees could do so as well. I'd say it's probably MORE offensive to the Biggie/Tupac followers than if they had been alive and could speak for themselves.

With these rappers to day "Poppin a cap" in one's ass, would look alot like the artwork on young dudes mixtape cover.

I don't see the problem with it. Freedom of speech and all that.
Household name? I never heard of him until this thread.

Household name is a strech, but my point is that creating outrageous album covers/titles both Lil B and Asaad have gotten there name to countless people who would otherwise never hear of them. 2012: The Queen Returns

That's probably where that phrase originated from. From their old prison days. Andy is a four letter word.

Wow, people will do ANYTHING for attention nowaday's. And as many said it's just like with Lil Bitch i mean Lil B Did. And why is he the based os bass GOD or w/e? i swear rappers nowaday's are poor excuses for humanity lord.... i'll stick to my Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy & Grandmaster Flash records.
The only recent decent rap artist i heard where death grips. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

This is just wrong... we all know Biggie would have been the top "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

Exactly my point. I can't use "freedom of expression" as an excuse. Fuck that.

And I would never argue his right to do this, the first amendment doesn't prevent anybody from being critical of someone's free speech. 2012: The Queen Returns

If they got the right to "express", we got a right to be critical. All is fair in love and war.

Oh Brother!
Well, if I were a young rapper, and wanted to make sure that I got the most attention possible from a single cover, THIS would be the cover I'd use. Kanye's probably mad he didn't think of it first, lol.
To me, this is simply hilarious (...but I stopped taking rappers seriously a long time ago). Rap fans getting mad over this cover reminds me of Muslims getting mad over the cartoon of Muhammad with a bomb in his turban. They're public figures, and it's just a cartoon. But now a cartoon of Biggie's and 2Pac's MOMs in the same situation; I would find offensive. But Asaad's mixtape cover in my opinion is just child's play.

With all due respect, that analogy is off base, PDogz. Disrespecting some rappers is not the same as disrespecting a religous symbol. Granted, I get what you're trying to say, but the two things are radically different.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I respect your argument, sincerely.
Although as far as analogies go, I think; a Rap Star is to his fans, as a Religious Leader is to his flock, is still a valid one. Just like; Fire is to burning, as Water is to soaking, would be another valid analogy, yet it could be argued that the two things (Fire and Water) are radically different.
So, while I'm clearly defending my analogy, I completely agree that a rapper and a religious figure are radically different, nevertheless appreciate that you get what I'm saying.

I have no problem with the cover art itself, albei it is a bit disrespectful, but I find his reasoning a bit off. So because the industry screwed and still is screwing rappers over he is using an image of Pac and Biggie screwing each other? WTF? What´s that got to do with artist being screwed over by the industry?
That album cover looks horrible, by the way. Just horrible. Like some old videogame screen cap from the mid 90s. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
