You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Just because there's a guitar solo doesn't make it not gospel. Here's the original.

Some have taken secular songs and change a few words to make gospel.

I love how you just assumed i thought it wasn't gospel cause it had a guitar solo razz

What else could it be? The lyrics are pretty clear as to what the song is about: Jordan, thank the Lord, train is coming, all you need is faith, open the doors, no room for the hopeless sinner, etc. Jeff and Rod's video even shows a church.

I wish the keyboard chromaticism of Gospel music was applied to

the harmonies heard in its choral arrangements.

Big gospel fan here!

I'm much more into the traditional gospel that I was raised on like Mahalia, James Cleveland, Dixie Hummingbirds, etc., but I do like a few contemporary songs and artists.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Nobody does Shadrach like Brook Benton. He recorded one gospel album at his father's request and the entire album is beautiful beyond words.

His voice is positively captivating.
