March 17, 2012 was my 42nd birthday

AND

I

SAW

HER

SING

THIS

SONG

WTF? lol I was so overwhelmed that I burst into tears. In 1994 I left my abusive relationship and that is when I found Chaka's back catalogue. I can barely listen to this song because of the depth of the feelings that come up when I remember myself at 24 all alone, sitting and listening to this song never knowing that I would emerge from Victimhood into a Victor.

Now see, this is how she should do it from now on till she hits the ground. Everytime I see her live its the same song list, I had never had the fortune to witness her sing stuff like this, "Roll Me Through The Rushes" or "Night In Tunisia".

Its really refreshing to hear sing this, a) She's really into the material and not bored stiff outta her mind and b) She still could pull it off vocally.

This is a def a treat worth posting. Thanks Kit.

Ya know, I may not relate to your situation, Richard. But I could def relate to the positive effect that her music left on you.

When I went through my depression spills and wanted nothing but be alone, her voice was a real comforting companion. Its def an element beyond the "talent" factor IMO.

This is from the same concert, apparently,,,,

Don't fancy cover albums too much, but I sure wouldn't mind if she recorded a whole album full of Joni's material. With Herbie Hancock playing behind her all the way till the end of the record.

Now that she's FINALLY made some changes to her set list, I'm actually looking forward to her next show in Michigan. We have been begging (demanding) her to include "The Earth Song" in her show for many years now. Hopefully, she will start to include some other fan favorites, too.

I didn't know Audrey Wheeler was still touring with her as a background vocalist.
