And your naive to think they wouldn't.

Atleast Janet deserves the lifetime achievement award, it's not as if they want to give it to Beyonce.

Michael is/was just as deserving as James Brown, although, it was right that James Brown did indeed recieve it.

Also, apprently Aretha turned it down and it's always best when an artist can actually recieve in person and appreciate it. And as far as I'm concerned Janet is far more deserving than Etta James and Teena Marie in terms of their achievements, alone.

Before you go calling someone naive did you read this entire thread? Because your basically saying the same thing I said and its evident you didnt. lol lol lol

I'm sorry if I didn't bother to read 7 pages, majority of which consists of ignorant and smart-ass comments.

Nor did I have to read it, to know that you have been defending Janet, as you stated you loved her in the post I quoted.

Actually, not entirely, as I don't regard Etta James as more deserving than Janet Jackson.

I think musicjunky was joking, from the wink....I hope.

I don't think it's about dumbing down Janet, but Britney worked with Janet's choreographers, video directors, photoshoot people and everything in the beginning to market to little white girls. I remember how disgusted I was when people were falling for her and not being into Janet when she taught Brit.

Well Britney was the Superstar of her generation, so her fanbase grew up with her as she debuted onto the scene with oops i did it again (even back to the mickey mouse days lol) and transformed into this pop phenomenon, plus her brand was huge with all the baby dolls, video games, merchandise, endorsements the kids went crazy for her and i think people are going to remember music in thee early 2000's as Britney mania with all the teen pop artist and groups was dominating. as for Janet she was one of the biggest female artist of her generation from mid 80's to 90's so her fans were probably like how britney's fans was when she was in her prime

P.S. I don't think any female artist with the exception of Madonna that the media were completly obsessed with in a creepy way other than Britney in her prime :/

I'm most definitely not a Janet hater. I like several of her songs. I don't think she's this amazing artist everyone builds her up to be.

So you're calling JANET JACKSON overrated? Are you kidding? lol

That is such a LOUSY performance! falloff LaToya has NO stage presence whatsoever! You can barely hear her vocals, and that song is just WHACK.

Yea I feel you but see its not Janets fought even though she would still technically be deserving. Blame the organizations and award shows for that. They tend to lean to more current and popular acts. To me, theyve never cared about rewarding the real pioneers. I highly doubt an act like Sly Family Stone would get an achievement award from BET anytime soon.
