Speaking of old school soundtracks...

"Young Soul Rebels" is also a good one:

1. Young Soul Rebels - Mica Paris

2. Message In Our Music - The O'Jays

3. Running Away - Roy Ayers

4. Time Is Moving On - Blackbyrds

5. Don't Let It Go To Your Head - Jean Carne

6. Let's Get It Together - El Coco

7. You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) - Sylvester

8. P. Funk Wants To Get Funked Up - Parliament

9. I'll Play The Fool - Dr. Buzzard's Savannah Club Band

10. Rock Creek Park - The Blackbyrds

11. Me And Baby Brother - War

12. One Nation Under A Groove - Funkadelic

13. Let The Music Play - Charles Earland

14. Young Soul Rebels (remix)

trc, you've got a bit of Invisible Man's Band and the Dazz Band going on there. Did they ever join forces? wink

Anyway, all joking aside, I know the joint you're talking about. I must post about it at least once a week! biggrin It's Peter Brown's "Do you Wanna get Funky with Me?"
It's so hot!
I'm burnin' up! (hot)

Just getting into Cameo. Well rediscovering their back catalog. Anyone got any recommendations? I have the Alligator Woman album and Feel Me?! We should set up a trading hub to swap music, besides half this stuff is unavailable!

My best suggestion to you is to get "The Best of Cameo". It is a really good starting place. A lot of my old music is on vinyl.

I'm all about compilations. "Freaky Dancin'" is on "The Best of Cameo, vol. 2. So are "Hangin' Downtown" and one of my all time favorite Cameo joints "It's Serious." I know a few threads back folks were feelin' "Cameosis" but "It's Serious" is hot, too!

The 'Alligator Woman' album is now on CD?! Or do you have the vinyl album? That's probably my favorite Cameo album.

My OSFJ for today is the Invisible Man's Band's (formerly known as the Five Stairsteps) "All Night Thing." I just LOVE this joint. Flashing lights of red, blue, yellow and green, it's a funky scene. smile

"You look so fine and I want your number in my book...wanna take you home with me and get it on all night long...it's gonna be an All Night Thing"

Yes,that song is da jam! smile

No, I don't know the story but if I remember they sound similar. The Barkays had a few songs that sounded like someone else's that was already out.

ok, just thought I ask cause there was a big controversy over the 2 songs and yeah they did sound similiar and that's probably why due to that and that the names are too much the same

Speaking of the Bar-Kays,I love them to death, but admit it,many of their songs "borrow" heavily from other songs.Examples...

***"Freakshow On The DanceFloor"(1984) sounds alot like Midnight Star's 1983 hit "No Parking On The DanceFloor".

***"Dirty Dancer"(1984) has the same synth line as Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"(1983).

***"Freaky Behavior"(1981) is reminiscent of Rick James' "Super Freak".

***"Dance,Party,Etc"(1984) is a blatant rip-off of Prince's 1982 song "DMSR".
