Van Hunt: anyone heard of him?

Van Hunt

He's very influenced by soul, funk, and rock music. Plus Prince is one of his several influences, so that is one of the reasons I was drawn to listening to his music. However, I've never heard of this fellow until recently, but apparently he's a grammy-award winning artist. Have any of you orgers heard of this man? Are you a fan?

Yes, I couldn't agree more, he always innovates his music. When did you first hear about him?

Yeah, I had his first couple of albums.

Since then, his 6 fans seem to have migrated from alt.music.prince to here and okayplayer.com.

You could say Van is notoriuos among the long time org members. There was a big stink over something he said in a blog which from his POV was taken out of context... and he was attacked on here for it. Classic stuff.

At first I thought you were being sarcastic. Van is pretty popular (no pun intended) around these parts. For my money, he's produced 4 great albums in 4 tries. Love that man! "At the End of a Slow Dance" is one of the best songs of the previous decade.

I'm half that man's age but he could get it from sun up to sun down. I've been supporting him since his debut.

Agreed. Slow Dance and The Lowest 1 Of My Desires are my favourite Van Hunt songs.

Haven't heard the new album yet, sounded a bit like he'd disappeared up his own ass from the clips I'd heard.

Jungle Floor and Popular are both solid albums though.

Honestly, when On the Jungle Floor came out.

I heard all of the songs on that I album and I honestly love that album. But I can't find it in stores at all these days, and I am not trying to download it for free, I actually want to support his music. Anyone know of any retailers that might sell it (Amazon only has used ones as I have seen)?

They appear to see be selling it at walmart.com Although a bit high at $15. If you into buying digital music. It's still available on amazon.com mp3 store and i-tunes.

What's up with the stunned look? Are you in awe of this man's talent? Then listen to this song.

Is that when he openly questioned orgers' musical tastes, musical knowledge, and told them/ us, specifically, "Fuck You" when he came across a thread about him written on the org. lol If so, what part is out of context, and how was he attacked?

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
