Rizzoli New York has announced they will be publishing M.I.A.’s self-titled autobiography in October.

The 192-page book will be a “monograph in collages made by the powerful and thought-provoking artist herself” and will include over 300 images. Rizzoli is the same publisher that is releasing Diplo’s 128 Beats Per Minute in April.

M.I.A. will also release her fourth studio album later in the year. There is no title yet, but there is word she will be collaborating with Swizz Beatz, the Cataracs and Chris Brown on the release.

She's recently been infamous for giving audiences the middle finger during Madonna's Super Bowl Show. Musically she's best known stateside for the song "Paper Planes". Considering her Super Bowl stunt I was surprised to learn that she's 36, and not twentysomething. Also been very vocal back in the UK about the civil war and unrest in Sri Lanka (I believe she was born there before immigrating to the UK).

Apparently it's gonna be titled
"That Chick Who Stuck her Finger up at the Superbowl: Memories of performing with Madonna once"

Really? Really people? MIA is a talented artist, not just somebody who performed at the Superbowl.

Now, is it time for her to release an autobiography? That might be a little soon.

part of me agrees it's too soon

but she's such a mystery that

there probably is a story there

they paid her good

to perform on her due date

at the now infamous Grammys 2009

she's the first Sri Lankan

to be nominated for a Grammy

I loved her Kala album

and knew about "Paper Planes"

before it was all over radio

I bought her last album, I forget the name now, that one with the Suicide rip off influenced track. It sounded like someone feeding cats into an electric mincing machine. I just didn't enjoy it.

Good luck to her and all that, and this book, with all it's pictures and shit might actually be worth a gander the next time i'm in waterstones waiting on me starb$cks.

I think so, it was released

as one long track (i.e. Lovesexy)

and most of my musical friends

took to it much better than MAYA

I have only listened to it the once, will listen again later. On first listen I like it, crunchy beats, lots of things going on, I like things like that. It's a lot to take in in one listen.

So far so good.

This is actually the kind of thing that annoying teens play on tin can phone speakers up the back of buses to annoy the shite out of everyone, but last night, I was jigging my 40 yr old tits to it no problem.

Thanks again for the tip.

wink
