Who remembers The Box? That used to be the shit. They always had the latest hip hop-rnb vids. That was my first exposure to D'Angelo and a lot of others. How long was that show on for-anyone remember the station it aired on in NYC? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Was this where you could call in and order videos, and then they'd play it?

Yep, super ghetto. I think they were trying to be the urban alternative to MTV. Did they anything other than rnb and hip hop on there? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

The weird thing about the Box for me, is we couldn't get it because we had cable. They only times I got to watch it was when we went over someone's house who didn't have cable.
Which, was just fucking weird. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I didn't have cable-was it nationwide or just in NYC? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I live in Chicago, so it was. They even mentioned it on an episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
It's weird that it was a channel that was only available over the air and not on cable.
I guess MTV Networks were strong arming Cable Companies back then. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I remember the Box... if you did call in for a video, you were stuck in the house until they showed the one you chose.
They played Prince's commercial for Carmen Electra's album all the time: "The Scariest Female on the Face of the Planet". "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I was locked in a box once.

Thank God I never saw the Carmen commercial. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

It's better than the album.

The commercial is what made me buy it... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
