• With the release of 1984’s STARCHILD (which became a US Top 10 R&B and pop Top 40 best-seller), the L.A. native finally achieved mainstream international pop success thanks to the classic single, “Lovergirl,” which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and became the biggest hit of the multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and musician’s amazing three-decade-long career.

• For the sessions, Teena assembled an all-star cast of musicians and singers that included Leon Ware, Narada Michael Walden, Ronnie McNeir, Billy Griffin, Nathan East, Preston Glass, James Jamerson Jr. and Paulinho Da Costa.

• As with its predecessor Robbery, Teena wrote or co-wrote all nine tracks on the album including the standouts “Out On A Limb,” the club hit “Jammin’,” and her soulful tribute to the late Marvin Gaye, “My Dear Mr. Gaye.”

• This expanded edition of STARCHILD features five bonus tracks including a six-minute-plus instrumental of Lovergirl (making its CD debut) and an eight-minute dance mix of Jammin.’

• In 1983, the artist described by renowned US writer Scott Galloway as “the blackest White soul singer/songwriter to illuminate R&B,” the late, great Teena Marie recorded her first of five albums for Epic Records after an initial tenure with Motown that established her as a potent creative fixture in the world of soul music.

• ROBBERY (a Top 20 US R&B best-seller) celebrated a new found sense of freedom for the multi-faceted songwriter, producer and musician L.A. native who wrote or co-wrote all nine tracks on the much-acclaimed nine-track set that included the standouts “Casanova Brown,” “Dear Lover,” “Ask Your Momma,” “Shadow Boxing,” and “Fix It”(a Top 30 US R&B hit single)

• For the sessions, Teena included such renowned musicians as keyboardists Patrice Rushen and John Bokowski Jr., drummer Steve Ferrone (formerly of The Average White Band), percussionist Paulinho Da Costa and bassist Stanley Clarke with string and horn arrangements by Paul Riser.

• This expanded edition of ROBBERY - released by SoulMusic.com Records along with an expanded edition of STARCHILD (SMCR-5049) - includes 12” remixes of three key tracks previously only available on a Japanese reissue of the album and an eight-minute-plus remix of the instrumental of “Fix It,”

Robbery was previously expanded by SONY and its was the only title they expanded long before her passing. They just added the instrumental of Fix It of the out of print reissue of Robbery.

It's a shame the covers are so fucking ugly!! It looks like a copy of the record, hanging in an ugly frame, on an ugly wall, above an ugly floor. Who designs this shit??? Just use the original cover.

I became dutifully excited over the thread title, but what I really what is unreleased rarities and outtakes. I've never had the slightest interest in remixes.

I-Tunes has the First Class Love: Rare Tee songs

All VERY good. But, my absolute favorites are The Greatest Love of all Time (acoustic demo), Happiness is in your soul (acoustic), First Class love (acoustic demo).

Check it out! Her voice is pure soul.

** Very excited about her daughter releassing a new album Teena completed prior to her passing.

ThankUPrince!

Yep. the company was receiving a lot of complaints about those unattractive covers. For whatever reason, they decided to keep the framed covers and place the original artwork (both front & back) inside the booklets instead.
