Keith Richards apologizes to Mick Jagger for comments about him in biography Keith Richards apologises to Mick Jagger after 'really offending' his bandmate in candid autobiography
Keith Richards has apologised to bandmate Mick Jagger and admitted some parts of his autobiography, 'Life', really offended the singer.
The guitarist described the frontman as 'unbearable' and revealed his nickname for Jagger are 'Brenda' and 'Your Majesty' in the candid memoir published in 2010.
Richards said 'He and I have had conversations over the last year of a kind we have not had for an extremely long time and that has been incredibly important to me.
'As far as the book goes, it was my story and it was very raw, as I wanted it to be, but I know that some parts of it and some of the publicity really offended Mick and I regret that.'
Referring to an early chance encounter with Jagger when the pair bonded over their love of the blues, Richards said 'What some of our detractors forget is that although we look like old codgers living an ocean apart we are still at bottom the boys on platform 3 at Dartford Station.'
Speaking in New York for an interview to promote a new documentary about the band, Jagger said the pair had a period in the 1980s when they 'were not communicating very well.'
He said, 'I got very involved in the business side of the Stones, mainly because I felt no one else was interested, but it's plain now from the book that Keith felt excluded, which is a pity. Time I reckon to move on.'
Richards also said the band were 'back in touch' with former bassist Bill Wyman who joined them for a jam session in December and they had 'talked about' him playing live with the band again.
This year marks half a century since the band played their first gig at the Marquee Club in central London, with a line-up including the late Brian Jones, Jagger, Richards and late Stones sideman Ian Stewart.
Stewart, the band's original piano player, was dropped from the lineup in 1963 because he did not fit the band's badboy image but stayed on as road manager and played on many of the band's biggest hits before his death in 1985. [Edited 3/17/12 1:15am]

Always thought that the publicity about Keith's 'bitchy' comments in his bio were overblown. For most of the book he's actually quite complimentary about Mick. Oh well, you gotta sell them books, I suppose.
It's been too long since you've had your ass kicked properly:

It's good to burry the hatchet they are getting old!
But as much of a dick as keith can be, i have heard stories about Mick. Now Mick i give him credit he is usually cool & quiet in interviews and usually not to crazy. But if you read all the crazy groupie stories, the fact his ego was bigger then Jupiter & a fat ass as Keith once said I'm sure Mick wasn't always the best guy to be around.

Both Keith and Mick have egos as big as Jupiter. Maybe this is why they've remained together for 50 years.

I Have a hard time believing many rockstars or popstars or w/e don't have egos. Your making huge hits, touring the world, thousands, sometimes MILLIONS know your name. It's hard to want to brag the hell out of that. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Yeah it really was not that bad He did say that his relatinship was not the same as it used to be, and that Mick's performing was not the same as it used to be. But I can't imagine reading his book if I was Mick! My Legacy

These two guys have redefined what it is to be "old". They picked the right name for their band way back when. I remember them being on the radio ever since I knew what a radio was!

You know they want to top The Beach Boys' 50th Anniversary Reunion this year...They haven't exactly been friendly over the years...(Mike Love's speech going after them @ the BBs RRHOF induction in 1988.) They're both bad-ass & legendary, though. Would love to see Bill Wyman back with them after all these years. [Edited 3/17/12 10:47am] Exiles of the Nation

^ It'll be interesting if Bill does indeed return to perform live with Mick, Keith and 'em... to me, the Stones would always be Mick, Keith, Bill, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones.

Why? Because you remember Brian Jones from when he was still alive? I mean, the guy died 15 years before your time. Ronnie, the "new guy", is in the band since 37 years already. [Edited 3/17/12 11:35am]

Like Ron Tyson has been in The Temptations longer than anyone except Otis & Melvin. He has about 5 more years to tie with Melvin. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
