Screw the brutal, face-smashing beating in 2009 ... Chris Brown is the HOTTEST R&B artist out right now -- which is why Rihanna says she reached out to CB to collaborate on two songs.

Rihanna called Ryan Seacrest this morning (March 15) on KIIS FM, explaining her choice to record two duets with the man who brutalized her three years ago -- "I reached out to him about doing '‘Birthday Cake'’ because that’s the only person that really -- it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician -- despite everything else -- that was going to be the person."

She said: "I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track."

Why should they? Popstars or celebrities are no role models! I don't get why they should be, just because they're famous? They're not better than any person scrubbing the the toilet floor somewhere.

As for Rihanna's comment... so she despises him, but because it's a good business move she did the song with him?? Wow, I would have more respect for her, if she had forgiven him and wanted to do a song with him, rather than it being a career move.

Your right I dont think they should be either. Their just celebrities doing their job BUT by default, they are role models because of the positions they are in and because the media crowns them as such. Rihanna knows she has young fans.... regardless if she considers herself to be a role model or not she is to some teenager or young girl that looks up to her.

What does she say in this article that leads you to believe she thinks it's okay for a man to abuse a woman? sends the wrong signal to women who are victims of physical abuse. If Chris is doing

a duet with Ciara, Monica, or Estelle(as he has on her latest album) people would not

I think they would. Some people would like to see Chris Brown tortured and killed because he beat a woman... there's people who talk like that over in GD all the time, but they don't seem to realise that they sound as crazy as the people they're condemning. Chris Brown did beat a woman, but it's in the past, and I'm not saying we should forget about it, but I don't think people should forever hate him and everything he does because of that.

Rihanna and Chris Brown recording a song together has nothing to do with him beating her a few years ago.. yet the people on this forum constantly post every little Chris Brown news piece, just so everyone else can come in and trash him because he beat a woman before.

I'm sure I'm now going to be accused of supporting abuse towards women..

She admits she did it for commercial reasons, but what she doesn't admit is that those reasons are tied to the gossip that their reunion generates. And to me that is pretty shameless.

Everything about her is hypocritical, so none of this surprises me. But what she should stop doing is pretending like she's so hard and brutal all of a sudden since their incident. 'Cause if anyone else attempts to fight her again, all of this feigned toughness in her image would disappear while she's fumbling and again trying to figure out how to clench a fist.

What a misleading title! And whatever happened to artistic integrity?
