Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Just about to start a thread on this guy and decided to do something unique.
Use the search feature and see if someone had started one already. wink

Nice voice but don't hear the Bill Withers connection.

A couple from a Jools Holland performance last year...

Michael will be heading to the US for a run of tour dates this June, kicking off at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN. Michael will be returning to New York City for the second time this year, and he will be playing his first-ever shows in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. Michael will also be playing shows at this year's Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago and Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. Michael will also play a show supporting Alabama Shakes at The Music Box in Los Angeles in August. Bahamas will support a number of the June dates. For a full list of tour dates, please see below.

Home Again was produced by Paul Butler from The Bees in his home studio on the Isle of Wight. The album takes Michael's effortless melodies, observant lyrics and smooth voice and builds them into timeless and rootsy folk-inflected modern soul. Michael and Paul played most of the instruments on the album.

Born and raised in North London by Ugandan immigrants, Michael's music is drawing comparisons to Otis Redding, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye. Earlier this year he topped the BBC Sounds of 2012 list, joining the ranks of previous winners including Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, 50 Cent, Ellie Goulding, and others.

Michael Kiwanuka today released his debut album Home Again in the US exclusively on iTunes through Cherrytree Records. The album will be available digitally elsewhere on May 8, and July 31 will see the physical release of the album. Furthermore, iTunes is making the single "Home Again" their free single of the week starting May 1. You can download the song free at the link below:

Home Again was released in March in the UK to great acclaim, debuting as a Top 5 best seller, and with Q Magazine calling it a "life-affirming...accomplished work of depth and distinction."

Unlike the UK release, which included ten songs, the US version features 11, with the addition being the Dan Auerbach-produced "Lasan." Of the song, Rolling Stone said "it's [Michael's] rich, ragged voice that pulls you in. He sounds like his own man, not an imitator."
