I've loved the albums from the 2000s but this one is bound to one of my favourites of his!

Really? I hope so, Magic was pretty forgetable outside of radio nowhere. And the dream album was ok but not super duper.

Yeah it feels like all the stuff he was trying to do with the recent albums, wll he's finally got that stuff focused. There are bits of The Rising, Devils and Dust, The Seeger Sessions, Magic and Working On A Dream.

Standout tracks for me Shackled and Drawn, Death of My Hometown (wow he took it right to Wall Street with this one!), Wrecking Ball, Rocky Ground and Land of Hope and Dreams.

I hope so, i love to see my idols do well but with tempered expectations, I don't expect another born to run or darkness even though I always say a prince or a bruce do not put out bad albums and I stand by that.

Only listened to have of it so far.... and i like it MUCH better then dream. The lyrics and everything just seem much more focused cool

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

I don't know, I don't like the production much, too much hip hop crap and it's too damn crisp. It loaded next to Born To Run on my mp3 and it alternates between the two coincidentally, just makes it sound really really bad. I don't know, I'll have to listen to it more. Bruce isn't the same, he's trying, he's really trying but he's not the same guy who actually lived what he sang about on Darkness. Unfortunately, as he has said before, "my fans don't like it when i'm happy" what can he do?

I don't think it's a happy at all. Jack of All Trades is about a migrant worker (nothing new here), Death To My Hometown is about the "invasion" by American banks on America, Shackled and Drawn is about blue collar and This Depression is about what I bet a lot of Americans have been feeling during this recession. Far from happy. I think the Seegers Sessions sounds way happier.

As for the production, sure it's crisp and I think that's great. Sometimes you have to wipe off the grit. Ron Aniello has done a great job and, to me, there's way more focus and there are new sounds and I think an artist has to sometimes stretch. It's not the first time that Bruce has used loops either when you consider all the way back to Tunnel of Love he was using a drum machine. One Step Up, Streets of Philadelphia, the b-side Missing You, etc etc. I actually think this album is a bit of a showcase of American music: rock, hop-hop, gospel, and folk.

Born To Run was from, what....1975. I don't think it's fair to compare the two as far as production goes.

Best thing I've heard this year!

of course I know it's not happy, I was stating that Bruce was damned if he does damned if he doesn't. It's a response to a bevy of horrible comments I've been seeing online about how big a "hypocrite" he is. I was saying how Born to Run blows the new stuff out the water, that's not fair but it's true. I do like Wrecking Ball so far and I've only started listening to it. Personal taste is that I don't like overproduced music, it's the way it is today but I'd rather hear the dirt. I really would.
