THE NEW BOSS GOES AGAINST THE OLD BOSS Adele vs Springsteen

falloff LMAO This bitch just won't quit.

Springsteen and Adele Vie for #1 Spot on Next Week's Chart

March 7, 2012

A battle is shaping up between a pair of Columbia superstars to see who will be the "Boss" of next week's chart.

Bruce Springsteen looks to be locked ina pretty tight battle with Adele for #1 next week, with both Wrecking Ball and 21 in the 200-225k range.
One more chart-topping performance for Adele will give her 24 weeks at #1, tying her for the pre-Soundscan era with both Prince's Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever. The West Side Story soundtrack holds the all-time record with 54 weeks at #1, set back in 1962-63.

The only other debuts of note are a pair of EPs, one from Capitol Nashville/EMI's Luke Bryan (17-20k), the other from Nickelodeon/ Columbia teen stars Big Time Rush (10-12p).

Album sales were flat vs. last week, flat vs. the same week last year and up 3% year to date.

Track sales were down 4% vs. last week, up 6% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date.

TEA sales were down 1% vs. last week, up 2% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date.

Bruce usually goes number 1, then falls off soon after. But that's cause he is not ranking in top 10 ater 10 like in the 80's & 90's wink

But either way good for Adele & Bruce for there album sales

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

really? idk why lol

Bruce already has tons of number 1 albums & one of the best selling albums of all time. He's not going to loose sleep if he doesn't get a number 1 cool

You know how some folks are. I can kinda see Adele squeaking out of this for some reason...

it'll be tough though just because of Bruce's base of fans that are loyal, not so much the ones that see him in concert, but even more loyal that they buy all his albums, thats a loyal that very few have, sadly that pretty much died awhile ago, very few have longevity and still can pull out the fans to go buy the new record.

Correct me if I'm wrong but has 21 ever dipped below 200k in its chart-run?

not sure, i know first week was 208,000 wonder if it dipped under second week? cant remember though. Just a quick fact, doing 200,000 a month is what "slippery when wet" by Bon Jovi was selling back in 1986-1987 and that album went on to sell 12 million copies in the usa alone.

i think though what gets lost is if you take her album out of these numbers, the industry is down the drain, so i think calling it an industry "resurgence" is insanity, and not looking at the big picture, its not like overall everyone or at least a dozen artists are coming out with strong selling consistent records, because that is still not happening. Meaning take years where you had albums like Faith, Born in the usa, Purple Rain etc...you also had other mega selling records in those years, the interest in artists coming out now and their overall albums, is practically no interest at all.

It has actually. I think its been outside the top 5 once since release and is actually selling better around this time of year than it was last year.

This heffa is single-handly keeping soundscan numbers afloat. [img:$uid]http://prince.org/i/s/icon_falloff.gif[/img:$uid]
