The revolution may not be televised, but the lawsuit just might. The children of Gil Scott-Heron are involved in a lawsuit alleging that money was taken from the singer's accounts without authorization.

On February 24, Gil’s son and official estate administrator Ramul Rackley filed a $2M lawsuit in New York's Supreme Court against his half-sister Gia Scott-Heron, her mother Brenda Sykes and grandmother Elvira Sykes.

The suit alleges that the women unlawfully withdrew more than $250,000 from the late singer's business accounts and that the Sykes duo illegally withdrew $60,000 from the Gil's personal accounts.

In addition, the suit claims that Gia forged her deceased dad's signature to obtain funds. The withdrawals happened weeks after the singer's death last May 27, according to reports.

Rackley is seeking damages in addition to seeking to recover the money from the allegedly improper withdrawals.

disbelief This isn't good news. I hope it doesn't get too ugly. It's sad when money tears the family apart after a love one dies.

I guess Brenda doesn't have any acting residuals coming in? ..better call SAG lol so she can payback the loot they owe.

Update:

Elvira Sykes insisted they were no thieves.

“There is no reason for me to take that money,” she said. “I wouldn't be that dumb. Chase wouldn't be that dumb. And Ramal shouldn't be that dumb.”

Scott-Heron fathered two other girls — Raquiyah Kelly Heron and Chegianna Newton. But in a 2005 letter to his lawyer, the artist insisted he had just “three children.”

“The youngest one is an 8-year-old who lives in England,” he wrote.

Scott-Heron was referring to Chegianna. And in a letter to a friend, he spoke of her affectionately and said he wanted her picture on the cover of his next album.
