Monica Admits To “Putting Hands On” Brandy During 1998 Altercation
Monica and Brandy have been making their rounds to various radio stations and music networks promoting their latest duet ‘It All Belongs To Me’ this past week. It’s a far cry from the teenage drama filled romp that was 1998′s record-breaking chart topper ‘The Boy Is Mine’. When ‘Boy’ was released, rumors swirled that the two R&B newcomers did not care for each other, let stand to be alone in the same room together–these reports were later fueled by their refusal to perform the song or even promote together. Their feud allegedly reached a fever pitch during the MTV Video Music Awards when a verbal argument backstage turned dangerously physical. And there you have it, folks! All the whispers and rumors of what really when down that night have been confirmed by Monica and Brandy themselves, albeit the ‘Adult Versions’ of themselves. It’s great that they’re able to come to a place in both their personal and professional lives where they can laugh about the situation instated of harping on the negativity. Was Monica really that ’gangsta’ back in the day?!

Well the fact that Brandy was almost totally in the dark during that performance wasn't conspicuous or anything....and also that you could totally see a shiner on her eye during certain camera angles sort of confirmed it to me at the time that Monica clocked the fuck out of her. Imagine if Aaliyah had been called to do a three-way duet with them. I imagine Aaliyah trying to be the peacemaker in the altercation between Brandy and Monica since all of them came out in '94 and were about the same ages... I read about their fight on some MTV show years ago, something about female pop star beefs or something... I done forgot the name of it. | |

The Makings of Me was the bigger flop. It was the only Monica album I could not listen to all the way through. The singles were even bad.
