There was a huge thread that was deleted because it turned into some big mess.

I love kells, despite some really bad songs in his catalogue. And i'm not trolling i'm simply saying... this song just sounds so generic. After the great Love Letter this sounds like a leftover that didn't make the cut, but his voice sounds good at least.

At least he has not gone back to that club music shit he was doing for a good part of the 00's

I Seriously almost quit when he did I'm a Flirt... one of the WORST songs of the 00's and that's saying a lot lol. And Slow Wind, fiesta, That beautiful song with Ashanti, the I'm A Stripper remix. Then in the middle of all that released a gospel album? only kells lol

Some may kill me, but i liked his gospel album. Sure he had balls to release it after Chocolate factory & with all the issues going on. But he grew up singing gospel in church... i think he is great doing gospel wink

He's going back to the club music right after Write Me Back is released. lol

In fact, he just shot a video last week for a club song.

More info on this song, please? I wasn't aware he had a new song out; I thought his new album was called "Black Panties", not "Write Me Back"? I'm apparently not up to date on R. Kelly news.

What do you want to know about the song? It's #37 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts and it's doing well on Urban AC radio formats. That's all I got. lol

Kellz decided to release Write Me Back first and follow with the Black Panties album. So he's releasing two albums this year along with a book and other projects.

That's the kind of thing I wanted to know. I hadn't heard that he had a new single out, and when I heard "from the album Write Me Back" ... I was wondering what happened to Black Panties.

I like the song. Nothing special lyrically or vocally, but I enjoy the music/instrumental.

I'm still wondering what the real R. Kelly sounds like. I know some marvel at his chameleon-like ability to go from one influence to another but I think he's at his best when he's just doing Robert. If I want to hear a Barry White song, I'll pull up a Barry White song. No need for imitations though. I think he's a talented cat though.

Oh....and R. Kelly, please don't say its just a tribute. If that's the case dude, most of your recent stuff has been tributes.

I can kind of get what you mean. R. Kelly i'm a big fan, but he can be very mixed for me. I Love when he is doing his own thing & just going crazy with it like on R. Sometimes he tried to hard to adapt to the hip hop sound.... which resulted in some shitty club songs lol

And sometimes his inspiration ala Barry, Stevie & Prince can be seen clearly in many of his works. I Also wish R Could not make so many songs about the same subject lol

For awhile it was about

Sex, Cheating, Angry Women, Haters, GOD, Clubbing

idk... i just heard so many this love & that love songs from him... wish he could do a little something diffeent.

What exactly proves that I don't know what I'm talking about? What was the first thing you thought of when you heard the new single? If your answer is anything but Barry White......idk. Some people like his stuff that sounds like imitations of other artists, I don't. And I like Kells. I just think he cheapens his talents when he does this type of stuff that's all.

That's what I'm referring to with Awrah. Dude can sing his butt off but why waste it imitating other singers styles?

Since when? This is the only song that sounds Barry White inspired and Prince? Eh never. Kelly does have a few Stevie Wonder inspired songs but not a lot like you're making it out to be.

The fact that you think most of his recent stuff is a tribute of some sort let's me know you haven't listened to any of his recent work. The only recent song that is a tribute is his song 'Music Must Be A Lady'.

This song does sound a bit Barry White inspired but it also sounds like Kelly's 'Happy People' with a mix of Gamble and Huff-style.

That's part of what I'm saying. Why not sound like Robert? I'm not trying put him in a box or limit his range. He's mad talented and I guess I just see more potential in him.

Because that's clearly what he's trying NOT to sound like. He already mentioned that he was going to do 70's Soul/R&B music as a follow up for the Love Letter album.

Your so hard to talk to lol . you can't take it when someone even a hardcore Kells fan like me tries to give an opinion. I mean just get over it, it's what i think, you don't. It's not a big deal, but you being rude everytime someone doesn't think everything kells done is perfect is not needed.
