Musiq Soulchild Plans Book on Love, Relationships, Music

March 05, 2012

Musiq Soulchild has long sung about love, and now he wants to write about the stuff, too.

He tells Billboard that he's working on a book that's "in its early, embryonic development stage." Still Musiq has his heart set on publishing the text "by summer -- definitely before the fall."

The book will touch on "love and relationships, and love and music," Musiq explains. "Basically it's just a man with an opinion ranting about love and relationships and how my music is affected by them and how my music impacts other people's relationships."

Musiq says fans of his songs will be interested in his book, and he hopes that people who wouldn't be into his music would "at least be interested in my thoughts and opinions on how we as people relate to each other in terms of romantic love and relationships. I just really hope people will enjoy it."

Musiq appears alongside Chrisette Michelle on "Ah Yeah," a single from the Robert Glasper Experiment's Black Radio album. Musiq says he's waiting for label execs to give him the green light for another album, but right now he's more focused on songwriting and producing for other people. "I want to take a step back a little bit as an artist. I do enjoy performing, I do enjoying singing -- all of that, and I'm not gonna stop doing it. But I think it takes away from being creative, and being a writer-producer you can constantly be creative," he explains.

That's a very good thing. I didn't care for his last project at all. I wish him well with the book, though.

All his music sounds the same, his voice sounds the same in all his songs and his videos are the same. not sure how he has lasted this long.

So he's writing a book because his records aren't selling that well...okay, at least he's not coming out with wack perfumes/colognes, clothing lines and coloring books as a means for an extra outlet for income. shrug I say more power to him...the book may possibly be pretty good. Who knows.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Wish him luck with it. All his albums haven't been great but he's been

consistent through out his career. I have 3 of his cd's. I'd rather him do

songs about love and relationships over and over versus popping bottles

and collars in a club and having 5 damn guest rappers on his cds.
