This is my 2nd genuine attempt to try to find some enjoyment out of today's mainstream music

lol No lie. I tried a few years around 2006-2008. No luck.

Today I loaded the Rihanna station onto my Pandora for starters. A lot of pop stuff I usually only hear when I go to Hustler Hollywood. I gave most of it a thumbs down, except for the few tracks from Adele they played.

But I'm not giving up. Should I die because my eardrums exploded insid my brain, know that I think this forum rocks. grouphug

Later for now. I'm going back in for more.

My other Pandora stations include Classical Solo Piano, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, E-40 and Too $hort, Victor Wooten, Kraftwerk, Jacksons, New Edition, Full Force, The Deele, Tool, and various oldies stations. So, lol whay not give the new school stuff another chance....

You won't come across that many listenable songs on 'Rihanna' radio.

What I advise you to do is create a station for 'Erotic City' 'Funk' 'More Bounce to the Ounce' 'Prince' 'Disco' 'Diamonds and Pearls' 'Shalamar' and 'Marvin Gaye' and you should be set lol

Mya

I don't know why you're even attempting .. firstly, as you're looking in the wrong place, I mean 'Rihanna' ain't the best place to start looking for quality lol & secondly, 95.5% of todays music is just smfh .. I don't understand how people don't retreat in disgust from what's currently out there, how do they NOT feel violated/tortured after being exposed to such racket? eek

I gave up on todays music a long time ago, I'd rather go back in time tbh & find what I've been missing out on nod

So this is how the day has gone so far, what I’ve subjected myself to.

First the Rihanna station:

Rihanna- Complicated shake

Adele – fogot to capture the title, some slow bluesy number. It was cool. music

Jay-Z – forgot to capture the title, think I went to go pee or something. shrug

Ciara – 1-2 Step. I remember this track when it was all over the place. It actually sounds decent on my headphones. Can’t lie, I was jamming to it a bit. dancing jig

Rihanna - So Hard shake

Adele – Rolling in the deep. I didn’t like it

J. Timberlake - What Goes Around… it was actually ok at first until he started that falsetto adlibbing. I quickly gave it the thumbs down at that moment.

Usher - OMG. Perfect title. omg Come on Usher, we know you can do better.

(Had to switch to the Primus station and listen some Primus, Tool, Cake, Rage Against The Machine, etc.)

Okay back to the Rihanna station:

Rihanna - Take a Bow sigh

Katy Perry - The One That Got Away. First ever Katy Perry song I heard. sigh Hopefully the last

Nicki Minaj – Moment 4 Life. clapping I like!

Maroon 5 – Moves Like Jagger. Quickly gave it a thumbs down .

Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough. I could. disbelief

Lady Gaga – Poker Face. I’d actually forgotten about Lady Gaga as she is near the end of her 15 minutes. This song was a big hit of hers, right? Why? lol

Had to stop and switch to the Afrika Bambaataa station. music LL Cool J, Eric B. and Rakim, Chubb Rock, Stevie Wonder, EPMD, Newcleus, World’s Finest Supreme Team, Beastie Boys,Cybotron…

Day 2 is in the books. sigh

I like Adele, "1-2 Step," "Take a Bow," and "Poker Face." I love "So Hard" and "What Goes Around..." (the latter is up there with "Cry Me a River" and "Summer Love" as my favorites by JT).

"Moves Like Jagger" has to be the worst Maroon 5 song ever, but I like the group otherwise. Jay-Z is hit or miss (and mostly miss these days IMO).

Apparently. shrug It's by my choice that I'm even checking for the heffa at al right now. I couldn't tell you one song by her until last week when I started this thread.

Add Beyonce's "Party" to the list of clapping I heard it last night at a private party I attended. Today I had to go to youtube and make sure it was Beyonce though, because I didn't want to accept that at first.

I like that song! I didn't want to admit to liking a Beyonce song either lol It's easily the best song she's ever recorded. It has a nice throw-back vibe to it. If she would make more songs like this maybe I would like her. smile

Yess. His verse was the highlight of that song. I usually like J. Cole, but his verse was meh.
