Chaka Khan--Through The Fire

No one can sing this song like Chaka--and she still can since I heard her sing it last year! biggrin

She breathed some life and excuded an edge into a very hocky ballad. If that ain't talent, I don't know what the hell is.

Iam a big fan of the producers of the song and the type of ballad it is in general, but I still find the song average oddly.

"Chinatown" is a fun song though. Synth overload. Fuck knows what the song is about though LOL. Shoulda used it for "the golden child" or some soundtrack.

Serious? I thought for sure this song did better than that.It has 'pop Top 10' written all over it.

I agree. Warner Bros dropped the promo smh anyway, the song is still one of the greatest pop/R&B songs of all time anyways. It stayed on the Hot 100 for 19 weeks and made the AC so it was still a SMASH anyway but it would've been bigger on the Hot 100 had they promoted it properly (it peaked at 60).

I'm actually surprised that it didn't reach Top 10 on any of those charts.I remember hearing this song on the radio all the time.I thought it was more successful.

If you take a look at Khan's solo career/ disography I think you'll find a lot of her songs were top 10 to 20 "hits". Then again I don't know how record companies count records sold. Khan said, she's always sold a half of million with single releases and no less than a quarter of a million albums sold in the Chicago area. In other words her home town always came out and supported her work.
