Brandy's sounding much deeper nowadays.

It's getting a mixed response, but I like it. Once the music video comes out, people will get into it.

I like it too. Least they grown up from The Boy Is Mine. Now it's Boy That Shit Is MINE!

I don't like it. The intro and verses were promising, but the chorus ruined everything. Brandy is still one of my favouries though, I love her albums, but if she has a new one with it all sounding like this....

Yeah it sounds like a continuation of her last album. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Sounds like a Beyonce song.

Human wasn't bad, but it wasn't her best either. I know she herself doesn't like it, but the good songs really stood out to me and I love her voice.

Brandy's album won't sound like this AT ALL. This song was Monica's idea and I don't even think Brandy really wanted to do it.
I'm ready for Brandy's REAL first single.

I wonder if it's for Monica's album...only.

I agree the sound is more Monica than Brandy, and gives me another reason to believe that Brandy made it and Monica didn't. I know neither are big like the 90's now, but Brandy is the more known one of the two, and for a good reason too.

DEATH because she's a shitty actress as well. Thats it. Monica's music career TRUMPS Brandy's and it is the only thing that the 2 can honestly be compared at. Brandy hasn't had a #1 on any chart since 1999 and she's been signed to at least 3 different labels while Monica is coming off a 2x Grammy nominated and 2x Billboard Award nominated album with 2 #1 singles with her original record contract INTACT.
This song is the absolute PITS!! Brandy murked it while Mo was just going through the motions. This don't even sound or feel like a Monica song, its so generic like Brandy's last album. I never understood why they were pitted against each other and not Brandy vs. Aaliyah since they both came out at the same time. Monica didn't come out until a year and half later and had more hits than the both combined on the Hot 100, Hot 200 and R&B charts. Stevie Wonder = EARTH

Brandy and Monica crossed over, and it took longer for Aaliyah, that's probably why, but magazines likes word up and black beat and such would bring up the trio together. As for Monica, nobody talks about her anymore, even if her voice is still good. Her songs are just not good like they used to be. I haven't been feeling her since 2002.

It's going to be on both albums

Producer Rico Love Dishes On Brandy & Monica’s Duet: ‘It Will Be A Shocker’ Thu, Jan 19 2012 by Necole Bitchie | Filed Under: Celebrities
Now that Brandy and Monica have revealed that they have reunited for a new track, the anticipation is unbearable. Come with it already! We’ve all seen the pics of the two in the studio, now producer Rico Love is dishing out more tea on what to expect from the new collaboration, ‘It All Belongs To Me’, which will be released on February 6th. He recently sat down with ‘Rap Up‘ and discussed what it was like in the studio the day the two recorded the track as well as the pressure of doing a follow up to their first duet, ‘The Boy Is Mine’ which spent 13 weeks at number #1 back in 1998.
On Recording with both Brandy and Monica
It was a really interesting situation because of the history that was in the room and the energy was so positive. It was electric. I really wanted to try my best to pull the most explosive vocals out of them. I wanted to create a story that picked up where “The Boy Is Mine” left off. It kinda carried on the next part of the story, just showing their growth and their maturity, and making it real and true to both singers. It was an amazing energy, an amazing vibe. The girls were all positive. It was just fun. We had a great time and I learned so much from both of them during the session.
On how the duet came together
It was Monica’s idea originally because Monica heard the record and she was so excited about it. She was like, “Yo, I really think that this should be that thing, that next duet.” On what we should expect from the track
It’s a very soulful R&B song with pop sensibilities. I wanted to make sure I made it a classic R&B record, but I definitely wanted to make sure that it had enough appeal to cross over and become a Top 40 record. I wanted to include Beatles-sounding guitars. I made sure the melody was big enough for all genres and just a strong powerful vocal performance and strong content. I really don’t wanna give away too much because they wanna keep it under wraps as far as the title and the subject, but I can just say that it’s a very strong vocal that I got out of these girls and it’s a very strong subject. To say the least, it will be a shocker.
On whose album the track will appear on
I believe it’s going to be on both of theirs, but obviously Monica [New Life] is coming out sooner than Brandy, so I believe it’s going to be on hers first. We did alternate versions for both girls’ albums. So the version that is on Monica’s album won’t be the version on Brandy’s album. Same song with slightly different things. No. From what I've been reading, there will be a slightly different version on Brandy's album. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Thats a lie..... Monica has consistently been talked about in the urban-sphere while Brandy's only claim to fame recently is her killing some poor mother on the highway. Everything To Me was #1 for 8 weeks in 2010 and she recently got married to Shannon Brown of the LA Lakers which was covered worldwide last year. LMAO @ you not liking Monica and tryna lie on her. Go to Billboard.com and check their career paths. Monica still holds the record for being the youngest artist to capture 7 Top 10's on the Hot 100. She's had 3 Hot 100 #1's and 6 or 7 R&B #1's. Each album since The Boy Is Mine has either been #1 on the Hot 200 or R&B albums charts. Monica was just honored by ASCAP for her career achievements.

Monica HAS been out there more than Brandy. Her last album went gold on the basis of "You're Everything to Me".

If Brandy didn't really want to do it then she why did she?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Brandy has sold more records than Monica so I don't know what you're talking about. Shitty actress? Compared to who? Meryl Streep maybe. She's a lot more solid than a lot of these singers who attempt "crossing over." And whether you like her or not she's had success. Cinderalla, Double Platinum, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. People forget Norwood was the it black girl before Beyonce left Destiny's Child. She even had dolls and shit. She was the black Britney.
A teen queen. | |

I think she seems sweet from the couple of times I saw her reality show, but her new songs just didn't do anything for me. I guess I was more in touch with this "urban sphere" you speak of years ago, or was exposed to more of it cause no one I know really talks about her. I just hear about dance and pop artists, and then the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye as if no one else exists which is a lie.
I don't watch award shows anymore, so I don't know who always attends, but that picture of her at the awards is really nice! Now THAT'S someone who should be making red carpet headlines [Edited 2/8/12 22:17pm]
