Diamanda Galás on Prince

I am a HUGE fan of Diamanda and this is not the first time she has discussed Prince.

Full article here: http://www.chicagoreader....id=5676851

discussing record companies:

interviewer: Or she figured it out, years and years ahead of Prince (Betty Carter releasing on own label) and everybody else who realized. "Wait a minute, why aren't we cutting these guys out? They're just sucking the blood out of us?"

Diamanda: Prince is a guy that I would love to meet and do something with, especially within my blues category, because he's a real musician, and just like the work with John Paul Jones, I think we'd have a blast together. I really, really do.

Try as I might, I just can't imagine these two collaborating. Even in his wildest pre-JW days, she's way more intense than he ever was. It would change him to step into her world for sure. I once bought one of her albums, and after really trying to listen to it, I took it back to the record store and tried to get a refund it freaked me out so bad lol. Like I had jeopardized my eternal soul just listening to her. I do like her covers of Billie Holiday though.

eek WOW
Now that I would love to hear!

Sure the avante garde/performance art stuff Diamanda has released is an acquired taste & shit scary to most people...

but the albums she's done of just voice & piano blues/jazz songs are incredible! (malediction & prayer, la serpenta canta) She has a HUGE voice with MASSIVE range and power and is amazing on piano.

We know prince likes women w big voices.. wink

It Will likely never happen but a collab between her & prince would really be something to behold & a dream come true to me

I would love that too. I love them both so much. Doing even one song, and blues! They are both amazingly talented.

I just saw her on Thursday and am seeing her again tonight! biggrin
