"I Don't Give A..."--I love this song--just have to!--for the sentiments alone. cool

"Turn Up The Radio"--classic Madonna with a modern dance sound. I agree that this one is a single no-brainer. Great dance tune with the "wanna get away" elements that so many people want these days.

"Some Girls"--leaves me cold, too much automation. Just ain't capturing me. So far, this LP seems like a mixed bag like Hard Candy. Some solid Madonna songs and then others that won't please everyone. Still looking forward to blasting the whole thing through my big ass stereo speakers before I give a final judgement. smile

I'll post a full review once I hear the whole thing Best Friend and Beautiful Killer included but just I thought it would be, Gang Bang, Falling Free, and I'm Addicted are like the best songs. Love Spent is great too, so different than I was expecting. Turn Up The Radio is PERFECT for the radio. Definetly needs to be a single

As far as a last Madonna album that works a a whole--Confessions is where it is at. Great melodies, lyrics, concept, over-all music production, and a conitnuous flow from one song to the next! 5 outa 5 stars for this one! She should work with these people again! cool

OMG today as soon as I was walking up to work that is when I see the album leaked, I practically fainted and breifly considered calling in sick, but as my wallet is very thin bc of Madonna tickets I decided to head in anyway. Listened to most of it on my way back, but I'll post some thoughts as I listen to the whole deal now that I'm home...

Is there a version of falling Free out yet that doesn't have small stops? Basically my version it stops for 1/2 of a second then continues for like 2 seconds then stops for 1/2 of a second then continues on again. It gets sooo annoying!

GGW - I was relieved that after listening to the whole album that this song pailed in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the hook keeps my coming back but the lyrics are just too weak. Great to dance to non the less.

Gang Bang - Oh Madonna. Wow. Perfect. Campy. Dangerous. Silly. Dark. Yes. Cannot WAIT to see live. Video plz.

I'm Addicted - Twice as good as the snippet suggested, Madonna proving that she owns the dance floor, the MDMA refernece and chanting at the end are just cherry's on top of a fantastic dance track! Can't get enough!

Turn Up The Radio - It's a bit reductive as I first thought it would be, can't shake the feeling that it has a big Black Eyed Peas vibe to it, but the production really does gives it enough energy to be worthy of Madonna's cannon. Not my favorite, but by no means is it a throw away.

Give Me All Your Luvin - Still love it, but glad to see it's not in the top 5, or maybe even 10 of the album. Still obsessed with the breakdown and guest raps.

Some Girls - Filler. decent, but filler non the less

Superstar - Liked this alot better than the snippet, lyrics are a bit silly, but it's fun and I'm glad to hear Madonna having fun again after how serious her past albums have been.

I don't give a - This track is FIRE another that I loved even more than the snippet, Nicki is on fire and Madonna finally perfects the juxtaposition of electronica and rap that escaped her on AL. A big highlight in my opinion. Madonna is the Queen. BITCH.

I'm a sinner - more fun! Love the biblical breakdown at towards the end, it's making me hope for a 60s inspired segment on tour with this Beautiful Stranger, GMAYL and a psychedelic version of a classic, maybe Express Yourself, Music or Causing a Commotion. I'm a sinner, I like it that way!

Love Spent - This song is MAJOR. Still absorbing it, but an absolute highlight. Took an entirely different direction than the snippet suggested, and it's an all around very exciting song to listen to.

Masterpiece - Still love it, great lyrics, beautiful delivery.

Falling Free - like love spent, still absorbing it. beautiful. prescious. Possibly my favorite.

Can't find beautiful killer shrug

I fucked up - like it more with every listen, this one is a grower, but still not a highlight

B-Day Song - I like it, I can see why it's getting overlooked, but another fun song that I throughly enjoy

Can't find Best friend shrug

Madonna on MDNA: "I felt like an uncaged animal"

Quote: For me, where I was coming from with this album mostly was, I felt like a caged animal. While I enjoyed the expression of film making --- and I am really proud of my film --- I felt like I really wanted to get back to the basics of chugging my guitar and the simplicity of raw emotions. Even when I was writing a song and playing on the guitar --- or singing "I'm a Sinner," for instance --- it just felt so good. It felt so good to play a guitar and sing. I feel like I hadn't done it years. And when I was doing the vocals for "Gang Bang" --- which was a totally improvised vocal --- I was standing in a room and I felt like I had to just scream. I felt like I had to let myself become possessed by this kind of Russ Meyers, Quentin Tarantino character. It was all very tongue in cheek, but I just went off. Obviously, I had to get some things off my chest. So for me, where I was coming from was mostly like an animal getting let out of their cage, and wanting to express all kinds of emotions, not just one. All the stuff that life is made of.

Massive Disappointment. Not sure if everyone is listening to the same album as myself.

Girl Gone Wild: Semi catchy chorus. COTDF vibe with an infusion of dub step(which i personally hate with a vengeance). Radio and club friendly. 3/5

Gang Bang: Absolute crap. Cringeworthy forced lyrics. Lacklustre chorus and a very prolonged build up to it. It's like a very basic poem except with psychotic lyrics. 1/5

I'm addicted: Too much electronic noise. Totally overpowers her vocals. "i, i, i, i, i, i, i'm addicted to your love" is not a strong melody nor does it make a good chorus. 2/5

Turn up the Radio: This one had promise but ends up going nowhere. Gets repetetive fast. Still better than most of the songs on the album. 2.5/5

Give Me All Your Lovin': Self praising song with infantile lyrics. Narcissism at it's worst. An embarrassment to her catalogue. 0/5

Some Girls: Nothing to write home about. Some people may fancy the chorus. 2/5

Superstar: Ooh la la I Will NOT be listening to this EVER again. 1/5

I Don't Give A: Now this one has spunk! The second best song on the album. 4/5

I'm a Sinner: This one's ok. Definitely not single material. Also, i've gotten tired of her singing about religion and using it for controversy. 3/5

Love Spent: Listen carefully and you can hear "Hung up/man after midnight" sample in there. This one's quite good. 3.5/5

Masterpiece: Love this one. Prefer it to "Falling free" by a long distance. 4.5/5

Falling Free: Contrary to what other people have said, this one didn't resonate with me at all. Nothing special about it. In fact i personally feel the melody is quite stagnant. Doesn't go anywhere. 3/5

I Fucked up: Yes, you did with this song. Yes, you did make a mistake biggrin 2/5

B-day Song: Starts off a bit like "Ode to my ex" by Lloyd. What a load of crap is this. It's like MJ releasing 'Lisa, it's your birthday" except that's a much better song. 0/5

Those are the songs i've listened to so far. Quite disappointed to be honest.

Oh. It was a tough review. eek
I think that is the best thing Madonna did in the past 10 years.
"Girl Gone Wild" - 3.5/5
"Gang Bang" - 4.5/5 (it would get 5* if it were not SO bloodthirsty ending ...unpleasant aftertaste)
"I'm Addicted" - 4/5
"Turn Up the Radio" - 3/5 (too primitive, too repetitive)
"Give Me All Your Luvin '" - 1/5 (the song is very weak and annoying)
"Some Girls" - 4/5
"Superstar" - 3/5
"I Don't Give A" - 3/5 (this is not good, but the chorus of a song saved from absolute failure)
"I'm a Sinner" - 4/5
"Love Spent" - 4.5/5
"Masterpiece" - 4.5/5
"Falling Free" - 4.5/5
"B-day Song" - 2/5 (what was it?)
"I Fucked Up" - 2/5
-------------------------
Very good: Gang Bang, Love Spent, Masterpiece, Falling Free
Good or decent: Girl Gone Wild, I'm Addicted, Some Girls, I'm a Sinner.
Average: Turn Up the Radio, Superstar, I Don't Give A.
Meh: Give Me All Your Luvin ', B-day Song, I Fucked Up.

This is far from a great album, but a decent work. cool

What a pity! The ending of "Gang Bang" is quite awful. She should have known when it's time to stop.

She should have left out that part. It's not unlike some songs on "Hard Candy" which went on for far too long after adding more and more parts.

Here's what's so cool about "Gang Bang" and the part at the end...

You know how Madonna does those TV interviews where she's using that fake British accent, acting all "uppity" (as someone on this site said in the other thread)? This song is her breaking out of that role and instead being the outrageous, bold,Madonna that we fell in love with.In essence, she's being herself now.For years,I've been wanting her to do a song like this.Yes,it's over-the-top but it's amazing to see her going this route.

"Drive,bitch! lol I love it

I've seen some fans saying that this is her best album since ROL.I have a few observations....

***The album is stronger than Music,American Life and Hard Candy. It's more eclectic/diverse than COADF (which is still a stunning album).I think it even holds its own when compared to Ray Of Light, too.Alot of fans will be rearranging tracks and burning their own discs, but that's all part of the fun.I love the fact that Madonna gave us a 'long' album this time. You can pick and choose what you like. It's easy to compile your favorite 10 tracks and come up with an outstanding album.

***"Love Spent" is like two different songs.I definitely like the 'first' part the best.

Madonna's new album: Divorce, rage, regret -- and you can dance to it, too!

By Liz Smith

March 20, 2012
"THERE'S SOMETHING remarkable about Madonna's decision to share her suffering the way she once shared her pleasure. Her music has always been about liberation from oppression, but for the first time the oppression is internal: loss and sadness. Stars -- they really are just like us."

That is Rolling Stone's Joe Levy reviewing Madonna's upon-us-any-minute album "MDNA."

This record is dance-driven, revenge-driven, regret-driven and self-referential to the max. It has already received a batch of powerfully impressive reviews; those who have heard it agree it is disconcertingly dark, eminently danceable, and delicately mournful. A wild mash-up.

Madonna, who is only 53, is not going quietly into that good night of ballads and a single spotlight. (Although "MDNA" does contain three ballads, one of which, "Falling Free" is among the most intimate and well-sung of her career.)

But the beat goes on for Madonna. The album is chock full of 21st-century, in-your-face techo -- it thumps relentlessly, the bass booms, they do odd computerized things with her voice. Yet it often recalls her earlier efforts, during the halcyon days of her recording career. Her pure, unaltered voice is heard enough to reassure the fans who loved her in the '80s or in 1996's "Evita."

"MDNA" is not my kind of music, necessarily. But it is impressive. Impressive in that Madonna does what she wants to do, and says what she wants to say (Guy Ritchie, when you hear "Gang Bang," duck for cover!) And she says it -- haters be d--ned -- against throbbing dance beats.

Listen, Marlene Dietrich spent her entire career -- well into her 70s -- attempting to maintain the illusion of the fabulous femme fatale image created for her by Josef von Sternberg in the '30s. At Madonna's age, she was wearing semi-transparent gowns and singing the same old songs on stages around the world. And looking increasingly bored doing it, too.

Madonna was the sexy, controversial pop star. So she's still doing what she knows how to do. Difference? She doesn't seem bored. In fact, "MDNA" announces her revitalization.

She's always supposed to be "over," but somehow she never is. And I abhor the ageism and sexism so resonant in criticism of her.
