Italian journalist: "If Ray Of Light was released in 2012,it would be called MDNA"

The biggest name in Italian music journalism, Mario Luzzato Fegiz, was very impressed by the listening of Madonna's MDNA, which he described as the Ray of Light of 2012, or better the "turbocharged" Ray of Light. And comparing it to Lady Gaga's, "I admire Lady Gaga, but here we are just out of this world," Fegiz says.

This afternoon I was lucky enough to hear the deluxe edition of MDNA, the new Madonna album. What can I say?
I read the international reviews and I must say that I completely confirm their response : MDNA is extraordinarily beautiful! In the end, there is nothing really new under the sun, but it is so well produced and orchestrated to succeed where other albums have rather miserably failed. MDNA sounds cool and hypnotic, at times dark and violent. The album alternates between dance tracks, which wink to house music, and rather solar and introspective songs.

If Ray of Light was released in 2012, it would be called MDNA.

Madonna produced an album that is surprising and brilliant (GANG BANG), memorable (I'M A SINNER), jovial (SUPERSTAR), melancholic ( FALLING FREE), self-celebratory (I'M ADDICTED - SOME GIRLS), care-free (LOVE SPENT - TURN UP THE RADIO).

You can feel the touch of William Orbit throughout the whole production, even in those songs that he did not produce, since they perfecty fit in (and cross over) with the rest. MDNA is meant to go down in history, for the courage to dare in a flat and replicated business. I think this is the most beautiful, mature and complete album that Madonna has ever done.


P.S. I also agree with the comparisons with Lady Gaga, though sometimes those are inappropriate: I admire Lady Gaga, but here we are just out of this world.
Madonna is copying Lady Gaga ? If anything, she is celebrating herself, and I should damn well think!

I think this guy's going a little too crazy. There's not a snowball's chance in hell it will be more mature, complete, or beautuful than Ray Of Light. I still think it's going to be awesome but not on ROL's level of brilliance.

I love the disco segment you came up,but after the Confessions Tour,I'm not sure if she'll go that route again.It would be nice,though.

On my setlist,the first song is "Like A Prayer" which she performs dressed like a nun It's a very provocative performance.When the song ends,she removes the nun outfit to reveal a sexy,slinky outfit as she launches into "Girl Gone Wild".

Where did you find this? I'm glad Angel is included but I wish she did more older songs. I'm sure I will love the new album, but this is why I can't bring people who've enjoyed her longer than I have.

FOOTBALL SEGMENT
I think there will probably be a Super Bowl / American football / sport type segment. This is pretty much a given. Probably an extension of the "Give me All Your Luvin'" video. Which probably means some other songs from her catalogue may be given the 'cheerleader' treatment. I can see this segment opening the show. Or perhaps closing it with a big GMAYL finale.
Potential songs: Gimme All your Luvin'; Express Yourself; Turn up the Radio; Girls Gone Wild; Material Girl.

W.E.-INSPIRED SEGMENT
In a similar fashion to Dick Tracy inspiring an entire segment from Blonde Ambition, I have a feeling we'll have a W.E.-inspired segment in this tour. Madonna loves to have different parts of her work bleeding into each other and this is a project she spent 3 years of her blood, sweat and tears on. I can imagine screen projections from the film and costumes inspired from the film and re-worked for the stage. I can even see Madonna or the dancers with the Wallis Simpson 'hat' (you know when she's walking down the street with the tango music and then sees the newspaper headlines.) I can see this being the 2nd or 3rd segment.
Potential songs: Masterpiece; What it Feels Like for a Girl; Sooner or Later; Rainbow High [screen projection].

ARABESQUE/NORTH AFRICAN/EGYPTIAN SEGMENT
This will be inspired by Brahim, her current beau. In addition to some influence from MIA - I can see some of MIA's visual aesthetic in this segment. The casting call in Paris already confirms this. I can see him somehow being involved with this segment - we'll either see him on a screen projection (memo to M: please don't do this! Kylie showed off her boyfriend at the Les Folies Tour and it was cringetastic) or he will be one of the dancers or he'll choreograph something. This may well be the opening segment of the show. Or the 2nd segment.
Potential songs: Vogue; Girls Gone Wild; Frozen; Like a Prayer; MIA's "Bad Girls" mash-up with "Bad Girl" type thing.

***I think there will be a cheerleader/girl group segment,where Madonna and her two backup singers are surrounded by cheerleaders.Maybe there will be a 60s theme? Songs that could be included in this segment:

"Cherish"
"Angel"
"Lucky Star"
"Beautiful Stranger"
"GMAYL"

It'll be a cute,fun segment....like a scene from "Grease"

"Superstar" is decent....a nice,midtempo pop tune with a bright,sunny sound.It's the "Cherish" of this album the first three tracks on this album are very electro/club-ish."Superstar" slows things down a bit and goes back into pure pop territory.I like it.
