Uh, we don't need a "Bodyguard" remake. The one with Whitney and Kevin is just fine. No one today can match Whitney's talent, elegance, beauty or charisma anyway. Whitney was actually a pretty decent actress too. A natural on screen. I've always said that I wished Whitney & Diana Ross had made more movies. A remake would never be as successful as the original tho. A waste of time it would be. I hope this is just a joke.

YES!!!!!!! Listening to JHud sing Whitney's song at the Grammy tribute... at first I thought "wow, I didn't know Jennifer had a "pretty" voice". Then she got to the middle.... booming and LOUD, just not right for THAT song. A Patti Labelle song? Yes. a Aretha song? Yes. A Whitney Houston song... soprano and CLEAR??? a resounding no. I learned something about Whitney's skill as a vocalist that I never knew before. You have to not only have a God given good voice... you also have to know how to control that voice and interpret the song to know when to really whoop and holler, and when to sing smooth, and easy and when to be light and pretty.

Not everyone knows when a little is really more. Mariah, Christina, Beyonce, JHud, Fantasia... all oversing.

LOL... I agree with this but Jennifer has played other roles besides that and has proved to be descent actress come on give her SOME credit ... While I have yet to see anything deserving of an Oscar doesnt mean she is horrible... She is ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT better than Beyonce who constantly gets scripts thrown at her why I dont know she cant act for shit

So I guess this is the way it is now for H’wood, they’ve run out of ideas and can only spit out remakes. They’ve already done Fame and Footloose, and comin up next is the THIRD remake of A Star Is Born starring Beyonce Pathetic.

Actually I think there are probably plenty of fresh ideas out there but the PTB are only interested in making money, so they’d rather put out another lame remake with a non-acting hot at the moment celebrity than actually put time and money into developing a brand new fresh story.

Anyways as far as this remake of the Bodyguard goes, if they insist on going thru with this, the least they can do is try to change up the story a bit and create some new songs for the movie. To try to re-do or update the songs used in the original film would be stupid and a BIG mistake.

Especially if they’re going to have J-Hud sing I Will Always Love You. Yes Jennifer has a wonderful dynamic voice but IWALY is Whitney’s signature song, and it belongs to her. They should not have Jennifer re-sing the song, they need to have a new song that’s written and produced especially for her so she can make it her own like Whitney made IWALY her own. If they can do this movie the right way, by changing up the story and the songs, they just may be able to pull it off. Perhaps it shouldn’t be a remake of the movie, instead why not The Bodyguard Part II. Just my

No shade but I can't be a fan of Stevie, Chaka, Whitney and Luther and condone piss poor Baptist church hollering as the next coming of vocal greatness. Jennifer is vocally in the same league as Keyshia Cole, Alicia Keys and on her worst day, Christina Aguilera. All of them strain, holler and reach for notes they have NO business trying to hit. Sounding like cats being chewed up by a meat grinder. Jennifer needs a VOCAL COACH!!!

Her acting is also BASIC.... I rather see Gabrielle Union, Saana Lathan, Regina King and others of their standard be awarded with a movie instead of Jenny's shucking and jiving on my tv screen.

Like I said, I don't want to throw shade on JHud. And I don't even blame her... I point to the academy voting committee. I just look at her performance, and that of Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles, or Denzil Washington as Malcom X, and Angela Bassett as Tina Turner, and Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump.

Some people deserved Oscars and didn't get them and others... you just have to scratch your head. Another performance that won (and I don't understand why) is that of Cuba Gooding Jr. in Jerry Maguire.

I just don't think Gooding and JHUd's performance should be in the same category as (Oscar winning perfomance) as these other more worthy performances.

I love J. Hud but no way should she even think about doing a Bodyguard Remake. But, honestly, if they were offering this role to Rihanna initially than I'd rather J. Hud over that chick anyday of the week. It wasn't the movie plot that won people over it was the soundtrack and the chemistry between Whitney and Kevin Costner that made the movie a success and I don't think anyone out now could fill either of these two criteria to make a remake worth watching. Hollywood needs to stop being so damn silly with all these remakes for realz.

yeah, I thought it was just my imagination about that chemistry... but there was definitely some sparks going on between Kevin and Whitney. Any doubt in my mind about Kevin crushing on Whitney during this movie was erased when he spoke at her funeral.

He made them wait a YEAR for her.

From Vivica Fox (years ago), to Lark Voorhies, Brandy... and now Meagan Good is another actress said to be interested in playing (or in the running to play) Whitney Houston in a film based on the late singer's life.

But Meagan says she got reasonably close because she and Houston were in talks (before the singer's death) about Good starring in a Whitney biopic.

"We were fairly in the beginning stages... We were supposed to meet today actually," Good told EOnline last night in Hollywood.

Interesting. I can't immediately picture Meagan Good as Whitney Houston; but Whitney clearly saw something that I don't.

Good added, "My feeling is because she has the film Sparkle coming out and she's brilliant in it and she looks beautiful and healthy, my feeling was that's how we should end the movie—as a new beginning for her," in reference to how the film would end, given Houston's recent death.

Good also said she wouldn't sing in the film he flick, stating, "I don't think we've ever had a singer in history that I remember that could sing like her... Plus, when people see someone's life story they want to hear that person's voice because they connect with it, in their spirit and their soul. So you would have to use her voice."

She speaks almost as if the project is/was a done deal, and is indeed going to happen.

But this is all news to me.

Meagon Good is a very beautiful women. She has a natural sexiness & beauty about her that is not forced like Whitney had. I don't see any other actresses that have that.Plus she is right. Why would U need a singer playing Whitney? No one wants to hear another singer besides Whitney's voice in that kind of movie...
