Jennifer Hudson To Star In The Bodyguard Remake?

Click the image to open in full size.

Jennifer Hudson is in talks to star in a remake of Whitney Houston's hit movie The Bodyguard.

The 1992 movie, which starred the late pop diva Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, has been projected for a remake for some time, but it appears the death of Whitney will spur the plans to be put into action.

"The idea is to make The Bodyguard as a tribute to Whitney with her natural successor Jennifer Hudson in the lead role," reveals a Hollywood insider according to ShowbizSpy.

"She showed at the Grammys that she can be as big a star as Whitney. She is the perfect choice for any remake."

Is she the right choice for the role?

Bad idea, the movie wouldn't have even done well without the soundtrack.

Horrible idea. It wasn't a very good movie to begin with.

And, it will never be finished in time to build off of Whitney's death (as harsh as that sounds). I guess it could gain an audience to make a little bit of money, but I don't see it being any sort of huge blockbuster.

I've never heard of that website below and it sounds like tabloid trash.

Everybody knows the movie & soundtrack go hand-in-hand. Neither one will ever be touched. It was a moment in time and it needs to be left alone.

"natural successor"? GTFOH! lol

What's funny is now, "The Bodyguard" is talked about like its classic cinema now. I like how they're trying to label it as " a tribute to Whitney Houston". I guess all of the money making schemes are going to have that same excuse, "a tribute to WH". GTFOH! lol

They're so obvious. Like someone else said, she's not even cold yet. Damn.

Sparkle will generate a real buzz because its the last thing she worked on. I can understand the interest in that.

FOR REAL!!!!

Also "The Bodyguard" wasn't even that great a movie. It's only popular because of the great soundtrack.

I remember they were pitching this remake idea with Rihanna in mind. I don't think they should do any remakes.

Wait a minute now.... Jennifer is a pretty good actress and a GREAT singer.. dont get that shit twisted.

I agree that the movie should not be remade and the criteria should be more than just having singing abilities but Jennifer is a beast as far as vocals goes and is not a bad actress.

She isnt the best actress Ive ever seen but she is a bar above average... pretty good considering she has never had any training especially in her first on screen role.

I think that just because she did the Whitney rendition doesnt mean she has to necessarily be the one to portray her in the movie.
