Started liking them with Tragic Kingdom. Got it on cassette first in high school. Don't care for their earlier work. I bought Beacon Street Collection, but I listen to it rarely. I won't bother with their self-titled album.

I thought Rock Steady was a great album. But they picked the crappiest singles (except for Hella Good). I can't believe the last single is another ballad after Underneath it All, which is the boring track on the CD for me. Always skip it. They should've had Don't Let Me Down or Making Out as singles.

I saw them perform a long time ago when no one knew who they were, and neither did I. They opened for the Skatalites, and their set was very ska-punk, but rawer than it is now. I liked them. Gwen's hair was super long, and I remember she was wearing a plaid, kilt-like skirt and DM boots--typical look for girls in the whole ska scene back then.

You know I feel you on this one, Chris! "Rock Steady" and "Return of Saturn" are wonderful! I can't wait to see the "Running" video.

"Hella Good" is one of the best singles of the past 5 years.

ok, so maybe i've got my head in the clouds but, what do you think the chances are of P popping on stage at the no doubt show tonite? I mean, if he IS in NY and all...

No Doubt are a great band. Any band that can stay together for 16 years and still make good music deserves some recognition. I own all of their cd's and I can honestly say that Rock Steady is the best so far IMO. They just keep making better music as they go along.

No Doubt are seriously underrated. I've been a fan for eight years now and they get better with every album. Writing remarkably consistent material and coming up with some terrific arrangements. They're a blast! As for their albums

(out of 4 stars)

No Doubt(1992)** 1/2 - I'll have to get a remastered version of this album as i can never seem to turn up the album loud enough. It's really quirky and kooky. Let's Get Back and Get On The Ball are my faves.

Beacon Street Collection(1995)**1/2 Much better production than the debut even though the songs aren't as engaging. Good for what is it though, a collection of unreleased songs. Open The Gate and By The Way are real keepers.

Tragic Kingdom(1995)***1/2 Too long by 3 songs. If they had removed The Climb, Hey You and End It On This the album would've got 4 stars. They're not bad songs they just kill the momentum of the album though. My faves Different People and Excuse Me Mr.

Return Of Saturn(2000)***1/2 Again too long by a couple of songs. Their best songwriting yet though. Simple Kind Of Life and Home Now show real growth.

Rock Steady(2001)***1/2 Their most consistent album from start to finish. Making Out and the title track are genius. The latter might be the best thing they've ever done.

Live they kick ass too!

dude i love "end it on this" its my favorite song by them ever!...i think "you can do it","world go 'round","different people" were axed it would've been perfect...but thats just me wink

they have alot of bootlegs and demos but im not into her brothers work pre- beacon st./tragic kingdom...he was to cartoon-ish& silly for me.

The video they premiered on TRL is supposed to be a rough cut. They're still working on it.

Gwen Stefani is gorgeous love

I dug Tragic Kingdom, and Underneath It All is wonderful. I love the ending of the video, the concept is great.

Plus they're a stable group, which says loads about them!

skanky in her own way, not in an Aquilera-way! I've seen pics where I really thought: "ouch!!!"

But, she looks good in the Underneath It All-video.
