^^ Yeah they would retract their stories about Whitney's money troubles. Girl always had money. When she was alive, they concocted their broke stories, now she's dead "oh she was wealthy". Whatever with the media.

Me too. Her speech was so impersonal for someone that spent a lot of time around Whitney.

Celebrity Net worth is reporting that Houston's net worth is now at 5 million, A shameful descent fform some 150 million in her heyday. Drugs and lifestyle choices have taken their toll on her wealth. Being that she is not a songwriter per se`, she will not receive artist royalties from Sony Music Entertainment due to being advanced so far into the future. Merchandising and movie residuals is where the estate will receive monies hereafter.

^^ I want to buy that "required" greatest hits cd from Whitney because (shamed to say) although I have the Bodyguard soundtrack on vinyl, I did not convert to CD and I didn't buy any of my other Houston favorites through the years.
I want to get one to add to my meager collection as my honor to The Voice... but I feel torn since I keep reading that Clive Davis and Sony will get this money and not Whitney's daughter.
And before anyone throw shade on me for not having her cd's in my collection, truth is, I am cheap, and Houston's music was played SO MUCH on the radio.... I never needed to buy her music.
Even now, when I want to hear her music, I can just turn on the radio... but I know that period will soon pass. So I want to add to my collection because ....
[wow, the reality is hitting me and causing me to tear up]
I want to add to my collection because I know that we will never hear another singer as gifted as Whitney. And when I am (God willing) really old, I want to be able to pull out that old CD player and put on her CD and tell my grand kids, "now this is a woman that could SANG"
I don't know if I should wait until the price gouging it over, or buy now to support this phenonemen of Whitney dominating the charts one last time. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Yeah! Totally agree. I hurt my head from shaking so much reading this thread. Some people really should shut the fuck up and stop their arm chair I-know-it-better-than-anyone-else, when in fact they really know jack-shit. Some ugly-ugly people here.

That's currently unknowable. She does receive royalties from sales. What she actually owes and what Sony is able to write off would also effect future payments. I don't think Celebrity Net worth what her actual worth was at the time of her death. So what if she was broke when she died? She earned it and therefore could spend it as she saw fit and as she chose to, just like the rest of us.
Criticizing her spending in my opinion just hating. Using her daughter as a excuse to judge is just that, an excuse to judge. Bobbi Kristina had two parents, both of whom worked. Bobbi Kristina is also old enough to get a job. The fact that her mother was Whitney Houston doesn't exempt her making an effort to support herself. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

do what I do, just take them from offline. I've been just having a ball listening to whitney. Never was a big fan, I'm a minimalist so all the vocal gymnastics never really took to me. But now I'm listening again and loving it all. The production was interesting and I'm sure she had a lot to do with what she sang. Last night, late into the night, i was listening to her and thinking why it's so sad. Well, I come up with this, when someone is touched by divinity with that kind of gift and tragedy intervenes like that it's just naturally fascinating, full of pathos and sadness.

comes with the territory as the celebrity she was. What would be private for most of us is a circus for them. In our daily lives we only have a certain number of people conjecturing, debatin, gossiping about our character and our life, with celebs, it's open to the world. A fact which I firmly believe contributes to their problems, that cannot be easy for anyone and has broken more talent down to nothing than I care to think of. I'm not too clear on why Aretha didn't go but I'm nowhere near close enough to make any judgements on whether she should have or could have. Older people get to the point where they are just tired man, i'm getting there so I know, tired of people to the point where you don't really care what they think. Aretha spoke one on one friday and spoke clearly and eloquently about the meaning of this person's life, that really is more enough for me as a casual fan and an American Musician.

Bobby Brown's Night Out After Whitney's Funeral: Performing & Gambling Feb 20, 2012
Saturday was an exceptionally long day for Bobby Brown.
The show – which lasted more than an hour and included hits such as "Candy Girl," "Mr. Telephone Man," "Tenderoni" and "My Prerogative" – featured some emotional moments for Brown.

Whitney's estate (wow!) will receive royalties from sales but not from airplay. Writers and producers who worked with her will have a great year. They get paid on sales and airplay. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
