Whatever happened to Lisa Fischer? I used to get her and Mikki Howard confused "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Fischer sang on Sting's album "If On A Winter's Night" as a backing vocalist. In September 2009, Sting and his band of musicians, including Fischer, performed the songs live in Durham Cathedral. The rehearsals as well as the concert were filmed and have been released as a DVD. The behind the scenes documentary surrounding the event was produced jointly by the BBC and was screened on 29 December.
Most recently, Fischer appeared at the 2010 CareFusion Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island where she was featured with jazz trumpeter Chris Botti. She continued to tour with Botti through 2010, including appearing nightly as guest vocalist during the trumpeter's annual holiday engagement at the renowned Blue Note Club in New York City. She remained a guest artist with Botti's band in 2011 and continues to appear at their 2012 concerts.
Entering her fabulous 50s later this year, Fischer is single, has never married, and has no children. At this stage in life she feels she is more prepared to make another solo project and hopes to do so in the future. For now she plans to continue working in the industry and "living for the music" doing background vocals and songwriting for herself and for other artists."I really enjoy the process of songwriting," Fischer says. "Because I've been an artist and I've done the background thing I understand the dynamic between the two." The songs Rock the Cradle and Plastic People, for which she wrote the lyrics and melody for Latin singer Anane Vega, are slated for release sometime this month.

Guess Lisa felt more comfortable singing background than being a solo performer but boy did she leave a legacy with that one hit?!

"How Can I Ease the Pain" definitely left a legacy for her; talk about hitting it out of the park your first time out! Its follow up, "Save Me," did manage to make the R&B top 10 and it was a dance hit because of the remix. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Aside from "HCIETP"...I loved "Save Me". It's one of my favorite putting-on-my-makeup-and-hot-outfit-to-go-out-and-sashay songs!!! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Would have loved to see more from her after her first major hits, but she is the epitome of a great musician, she does it because she loves it, not for gimmicks or profit. Very humble.

With that said, she's probably one of those artists who don't want the fame. Fame isn't for everyone. Some folks are strong enough to turn their backs on mainstream and continue performing on the level that they prefer which would make them happier than having to live up to the pressure of being famous. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Her version of "Wildflower" is the best I've heard! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I suspect if the Rolling Stones are planning any activity for their 50th anniversary this year, she'll be involved in that as a backing vocalist.

Yeah she's been singing backup for them for a minute. If the Stones don't do a 50th anniversary world tour, there's always Madonna. Lisa was on Madonna's last two tours.
