Nick Cannon Reveals Latest Health Scare: Blood Clots and Heart Trouble!

If Nick Cannon doesn't want to slow down for himself, he should think of dem babies !

The ever-chipper America's Got Talent host revealed today on his morning radio show that he was briefly hospitalized last week with two blood clots in his lung and an enlarged right ventricle.

So, what did the doctor advise the relentless multitasker, who was treated for mild kidney failure right after New Year's, to do?

"My doctor was saying that my work is going to kill me—and he's not joking," Cannon told his 92.3 NOW-FM audience. "I think part of the reason why my health did kind of deteriorate was because I wasn't resting a lot and I was doing too much. I was overworking myself, working out too much."

Plus, he was informed that people who travel by airplane as much as he does can be prone to blood clots.

"It was quite serious," Cannon said. "I was trying to downplay it a lot, even in my own mind. I travel a lot. Anyone who flies a lot can be a victim to getting blood clots because it can start in your legs or your lower back. That, on top of my previous condition made me more prone to it."

So, is Mariah Carey 's 31-year-old husband finally going to stop saying yes to every gig?

"I always took a lot of pride in working so hard and never taking a day off," Cannon admitted. "But I'm learning that it isn't the wisest thing all the time, especially being a new father. Not only wanting to spend more time with my children, but wanting to be there for my children."

Surely, Mariah and their 9-month-old twins , Monroe and Moroccan, will appreciate it.

The good news is that, instead of having to constantly jet between L.A. and New York City to shoot AGT, the show has relocated to NYC to accommodate new judge Howard Stern 's schedule. So that's less air travel right there!

Nick Cannon has announced that he has stepped down as the host of "Cannon's Countdown," his syndicated radio show, after doctors discovered blood clots in his lungs.

"A bitter sweet morning. I have to stop my radio show. Doctors orders," Cannon posted on Twitter on Friday morning (Feb. 17). "The Doctors found blood clots in my lungs and said if I don't slow down and stop working so hard then it's a wrap!"

The 31-year-old began hosting "Cannon's Countdown" in April 2011. In addition to the radio gig, Cannon serves as the host of NBC's "America's Got Talent," starred in the Showtime comedy special "Mr. Showbiz" last spring, and is working on a new music full-length.

Cannon was hospitalized last month for mild kidney failure, and his wife,Mariah Carey, publicly asked for prayers. However, the actor/comediansaid that he was fully recovered and "100 percent feeling good" at the Super Bowl earlier this month.

It seems when celebrities work, it's always too much.

Damn. I was JUST saying earlier this week to my mom "I hope Nick Cannon is doing okay." and now I read this. I hope they catch those blood clots because those things are nothing to fuck with and may he have a healthy and speedy recovery not only for the sake of him but his family also.

Good thing they discovered them. I know someone in his 20's who died of one too a few years ago and they didn't identify it though he was in the hospital for about a week before he passed away. But yeah, it would be awful if something happened to him, for Mariah and the children's sake.

Please! If I were married to Mariah Carey, I'd be the world's biggest couch potato! Working? Hosting radio and TV shows? Ha!!!!

i agree. i had a friend at work who was 31 last year but has been in kidney failure for the last 3 yrs. he had his first heartattck at age 26. i wonder what the condition is.... he wasnt diabetic but hed had the same health problems as late stage diabetes. same thing with nick cannon.

And don't forget he's the president of a the Teen Nicklelodeon tv network. Mariah's always joked about Nick, "my husband has 15 jobs, that man stays busy! " , which any girl can surely be proud of having someone who works so hard, but when your health goes down the tube, all the success and money in the world doesn't matter. Hope he gets the rest he needs so he can be around for his children and wife.

He's doing several radio shows, I thought. I hope his fans will understand that it won't hurt him to give up one. He just seems so young and in what should be the prime of a person's life to have all these health issues. I think about his little toddlers...and he has a wife who needs him as well...if there has ever been a time to cut back and say "screw the money"...this would be it

yeah but just simple exhaustion doesnt causes clots and kidney failure. if that were the cases you know how many grad students would be in hospital. there has to be other factors- he's just too young for it otherwise.

I think Mariah is just high maintnence..and he's just trying to keep up with her lifestyle.

I couldnt believe Nick was hosting a televised event before the Super-Bowl. He didnt look good in the face at all...

Nick is work-aholic because he likes being successful and a "Star"......That is his "high" and not even MiMi can stop him from doing Gigs...

The Brotha need to focus on his health so he can be around and watch them big-head babies grow up...

Nick Cannon is opening up about his ongoing health problems that came to light after he was hospitalized for kidney failure in January and then hospitalized again, weeks later, with blood clots in his lungs.

"The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because ... I've known people who have passed away from that," he told PEOPLE at New York's Teqa Restaurant and Tequila Bar, where he was deejaying an event Wednesday night.

"I'm just trying to make sure I put my health first," he told PEOPLE, adding that he tries to get six hours of sleep a night and has been taking it easy at home.

He also revealed that the kidney disease was a result of an "autoimmune disease that [doctors] found in my system," and his blood clots were directly connected to his kidney infection.

"It's a lot of stuff," said Cannon, "but it's all in order now."

When asked by PEOPLE if his condition was hereditary, Cannon said, "They kind of say [my] autoimmune [disease] is – like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it."

For now, Cannon is just focusing on getting better – as well as on his young family with wife Mariah Carey.

"I feel blessed to be alive," Cannon said. "If it wasn't discovered, I don't know [what would have happened]."

Yeah I didn't post it here before, but when he did the superbowl his whole body looked swollen to me-he just looked unhealthy. I hope he rest and takes care of himself. Nick is cool with me-I like him and Mimi as a couple. Wish him well.

Blood clots can trigger heart attacks and strokes. Lupus itself ain't no joke; it can be fatal. I'm very pleased that dude is putting family and health first and foremost.
