29 Black Music Milestones In honor of Black History Month, Billboard.com is paying tribute to the many contributions Black musicians have made throughout the years. From the opening of The Apollo Theatre to Beyoncé's presidential serenade , we're presenting a list of 29 black music milestones to pay homage to some of the artists that have made music what it is today.

This wasnt even worth posting (the link that is) the topic is good though... How is Beyonces presidential serenada a Black Milestone when their were plenty of African American artists who have song at the White House and for the president way before she was even born?
I clicked on the link and the first person they have on their was Nikki Minaj as a black artist who has paved the way for female rappers.... What the fuck is Billboard smoking?
All their lists needs to be burned with liquor, torches, trees and spears.... They make the most dumbest, delusional, retarded lists of all time...
How the hell are the young people going to know the REAL African American artists that REALLY set milestones in music and that really pioneered for what it is today if they keep listing on these bullshit artists...

We created, perfected and popularized jazz We created, perfected and popularized the blues We created, perfected and popularized rap We created, perfected and popularized rock n roll We created, perfected and popularized R&B/soul We created, perfected and popularized reggae We created, perfected and popularized gospel
You got about 75% of America's popular music culture right there.

Black people have been responsible for many of the great things that make America the country that it is. They can be great...
But they can't be too great. Otherwise they'll just get dragged through the mud. And I'm getting sick of it.

So I guess Queen Latifah, and Salt and Pepa never existed but in our imagination when it comes to black female rappers. As far as back on the map...it was never off the map to those who listen to true artists.
As someone else said...no other black artist sang for Presidents until Boucy.....we were all just dreaming that happened.
