Brazilian Artist Accuses Madonna of Plagiarism on ''Gimme All Your Luvin''

A Brazilian popstar has accused Madonna of copying him on her new single ''Gimme All Your Luvin''.

The track is the lead single from the Queen of Pop's new studio album MDNA, which will be released on March 26, but singer Joao Brasil claims that the singer stole the chorus from his own song ''L.O.V.E. Banana''.

Brasil's record company are contemplating suing Madonna, but he is reluctant to take legal action as she is one of his idols. Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Folha da Sao Pauolo, he said:

''I still don't understand what happened. I'm a huge fan of hers. If it's plagiarism, then even better. She is always at the cutting edge of music, so it's a good sign about what I do.''

Explaining his hesitancy to become involved in a legal dispute, meanwhile, he added: "It's in their [the record label's] hands, they're looking at how to proceed and what they can do. But personally I don't want to do anything. The last thing I need in my life is a fight with Madonna."

Compare the two songs:

he's not accusing or suing or whatever. He said in a recent interview that he loves Madonna and think that could be just plain coincidence.

Whatever the case, both songs suck miserably and show Madonna mired in a creative rut, chasing trends.

Not yet. You haven't weighed in on it with your usual Illuminati claptrap so far.

Hmmm...they do seem a bit similar...even if both songs are ridiculous.

How many popular artists, writers, and singers get accused of plagiarism every time they put out a product? It happens but I don't believe it did in this case. lol

i agree. the pattern of both song's beginning 4 bars rhythm wise is very similiar. also the cube patterns on the l.o.v.e. banana is very similiar to madonna's superbowl visual blocks during the vogue song her performance. remember how they moved and changed patterns during her singing (see the banana video @ 00:09 - 00:13)

how ever slight, there is a similiarity in concept. so was it the egg or the chicken?

In fairness, there does seem to be a similarity in terms of the chant. You can see how someone might have adapted "L-O-V-E....banana!" into "L-U-V...Madonna!"

Wouldn't surprise me if it had been lifted. She assimilates like the Borg, after all.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one in this thread to admit that there is a simialrity in the both songs. Sometimes I wonder if some people just can't hear the similarities or is it a case of stanism at its worst.

L.O.V.E. BANANA

L.U.V. MADONNA

I can see the similarity with that.

Yep, it is in there, she lifted it. And seeing as it is the hook, it is obvious. BUT, he is going to have a hard time proving it. And the settlement will be a co-writting credit on a best of release and a .0003 point share in royalties. After creative accounting he won't even see that. Best bet, enjoy the publicity and put out his bullshit song about lemons as fast as he can.
