It was one year ago today...

...and a day that will live in music history - or infamy. A young woman who only recently reached her teenage years got a birthday present from her parents in the form of a recording session where she could sing and perform an original song in her own music video. It was on this day last year that her impromptu birthday present recording session was uploaded to YouTube. And the rest became pop culture history.

The reaction to this YouTube video was fast and furious. Millions made their opinions heard, and it may have started revolutions in the Middle East. It also nearly caused the federal government to shut down, and it may have prompted Beyonce to have a baby.

Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but thsi little video did cause a firestorm in the media.

I'm not celebrating this; I'm only making a historical reference to this little clip. And regardless of whether or not you like this song, this was the first person who really blew up musically as a result of uploading a YouTube video, and thanks to her we have the likes of Lana Del Rey.

one year? time flies eek

and ye, Friday still is the WORST(best) example of a "Shit-Dance/Bad00sSynthMusic/AutoTune/BadYoutubeArtists/InsanelyBadLyrics" single

so, the song is PROUDLY featured on the list of "worst/most controversial" songs of all time...

the irony is that it made some millions...ahhhh the 00s decadence, you gotta love it rolleyes

Huey, how did you feel when you found out that Rebecca Black and her song/video Friday was a creation of a black man?!?

Yes, I said it fellow orgers! A black man by the name of Patrice Wilson (founder & CEO of Ark Music Factory) wrote that god-awful track. disbelief And even today, some people have the nerve to get Rebecca too much blame for making dance-pop culture a freaking joke. lol

Is that the same black man who picked up Rebecca Black in the video and probably molested her?

Chris Strokes! However, he was in to black boys (Immature, B2K) instead of white girls.

Could be. He's also in a video with another Ark Music Factory "singer". Forgot her name. Apparently they got two other singers on there. One "singer" is some little blond dweeb singing about getting someone else's girlfriend or some bullshit.
